Not gonna happen, we're getting a car that is SUV shaped. :(

At least they'll trash the PX- name rather than the Montero/Pajero

That was the only thing i found on the internet that was close to the description i was given. Time will tell what it looks like but I'm sure it will be car based hybrid. Mitsubishi decided against building things for racing, this will be the last year for the Evo as well i hear.

I'm still secretly hoping that within Mitsubishi things are hush hush and the things on the internet are just a smoke screen for something awesome like a true 4x4 capable truck.

I was told that Mitsubishi is going to one lineup globally to save money and that l200 production is moving to the Normal Illinois plant. the Large SUV they're expecting is likely the second Generation Montero sport. Which is fine by me, even though the sport is light duty in comparison to the REAL Montero (Gen 1 & 2) It still has a full frame and a rear solid axle so in my opinion it's more Montero than the Gen 3 unibody IFS/IRS junk.

Your are entitled to your opinion, but that doesnt make it at all true.

Maybe i shouldn't be so harsh, Gen 3's are good quality and capable trucks. The suspension is a great design for rally, but the kind of wheeling we do down here in Az is a bit beyond it's abilities.

If I would have turned around every time someone thought that way about my Monteros (Gen 1 and 2), I never would have done any trail runs at all. lol. I tend to think the opposite is more often true - most rigs are grotesquely over-built (and under-utilized, perhaps?) for the trails they see. And articulation is over-rated as long as you have traction by other means. ;)

Say goodbye to Mitsu in the US if this is the case, the dealers need product to sell, and yet another Outlander (that's what that previous picture looks like), won't do it. VW, Audi, Chevy, Jeep, even Land Rover are all bringing their diesels to the US market, now would be the perfect time for Mitsu to bring back the full size Montero with the common rail.

Bring back the full size Montero and market it as a Land Rover alternative, c'mon it's a no brainer, it will also help bring in customers with money to buy the new Galant and EVO....

And build a sports car on the EVO platform and call it Eclipse for **********************!!!

As it is , the product planners at Mitsu are taking the brand down the drain...

Some information: :)

http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/D1DD7B4C69F71DB3CA257B2A00817256

The pathfinder, is competitor for the Mitsubishi Challenger / Montero Sport / Pajero Sport. New Challenger model is coming, and judging by these article's it will not go the same path as pathfinder has gone, it will have a separate chassis and a live rear axle as it will be based off the Triton pickup truck. But a hybrid option will most likely come as a top of the range model.

Entirely new Pajero/Montero is coming in 2015. There will be a hybrid model of the Pajero very likely too, as a top of the range model.

But I would expect it to remain as a proper 4x4 like the challenger will, as it's main competitors world wide now are Toyota Land Cruiser 150 series and Land Rover Discovery 4. In Australia, Asia, etc. it is very favored touring and off road traveling vehicle, which is why I don't believe that Mitsubishi would sacrifice the off road credibility.

The concept PX-MIEV linked earlier, was the concept of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV, and they were already released. They are not supposed to be off road vehicles in the same meaning, instead Outlander is a competitor for the soft roader segment, against Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, etc. fully car based vehicles.

About Pajero in 2015:

However, Mr Nakao stressed that maintaining leading go-anywhere capability would remain central to the model's appeal moving forward – especially in its core Middle Eastern, European, and Australian markets – even though the next-generation vehicle also needs to also be far more luxurious and refined than today's version.

“Off-road ability is absolutely necessary. But so is luxury atmosphere, so it will also be added.”

Let's hope so, I was originally thinking they were gonna bring it back on the triton platform. I read all the stuff on the internest and got excited then i talked to someone who works for MMNA directly and i got a straight no way from him :(. So let's hope Mitsubishi has their guys just keep it all hush hush. I'd love a new Challenger or Triton diesel, probably be a little more highway friendly than my '88 diesel.

I am hoping they bring the Montero back. Once I get money I will be buying more. My wife loves the vehicle now, and I can't imagine how smooth the ride is on a gen 3. If they bring a diesel hybrid for extended range, power and economy, on a rugged and trusted platform, I believe it can sell internationally.

I would need one for my property in Mexico, and one here in the states. Everyday I see more and more trucks modded for off-road, arb equipment, etc. Now would be the perfect time to introduce their Dakar, rally, racing, off-road capable vehicle.

I would buy one of each year, and keep them for later use. I really love this vehicle.

Maybe we should get together, write a letter to the company to do prototype testing and advertisement.
Mitsubishi sponsored overlanding group. Go across all America in the new vehicle they plan to sell, taking it stock to all the rough trails in the states. And record the mpg/range with GPS, logs, hours traveled.

I think you can make it a winning vehicle and sell a lot. If it's range can beat or match my car, I think it would be a gold product.

I heard that MMNA is going to discuss the possibility of selling a real 4x4, "something to compete with the jeep line".

Probably shouldn't say more but that's better than what i heard a few months ago, Also on a side note my friend is going to pitch some of my marketing ideas for trucks to the big wigs in charge of marketing. We'll see how this unfolds :coffeedrink:

is the new 4x4 somthing Mitsubishi sales some other market?, because I don't think such truck exsited yet. this is probbaly will take some time, as was discussed earlier Mitsubishi needs to bring something soon so they can sale, new 2014 outlander is already on sale in U.S market, but I am not sure that will save Mitsubishi so they can stay alive in North America. I don't want them to follow Suzuzki.
