Montero to Shogun headlight swap

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
I've done it twice, the first time on a truck with a perfect core support and broken glass lights. I used buckets cut from a Junkyard Gen 1 and the Pajero headlamp surrounds, I riveted the buckets in place.

And the second was on a wrecked truck with a badly damaged core support, I eventually found a corner light. Same deal, Gen 1 buckets and Pajero surrounds except this time I needed to weld the buckets in place because of the damage.

They weren't on the UK shogun at all, they came on the SWB JDM pajero, and the occasional LWB special edition. Might make it a bit easier to source the surrounds if you search for pajero, the model being the XRII

The slam panels are different between the round and regular headlights though, so you'll. Have to do a bit of modifying, but it isn't a huge difference

Hey Toasty, did you actually cut the buckets out or did you drill out spot welds? How hard was it to line up the buckets on the Gen 2 core support?

I do believe that the gen 2 lights are a PAR46 lamp and thus 5.75" diameter, not 7". What headlights are you wanting to use?

I was hoping the lights on this truck( http://www.ooyyo.com/united+kingdom...68277103EF4/1527493633805864907.html/#default ) were the same size as A GEN 1.

I keep getting rock chips in my headlights which allows moisture, which turns my headlights into fish bowls. I would rather just change bulbs instead of trying to find headlights in the junkyards around here.

It looks like they are from SWB 2.8-2.5 Diesels ( http://www.ooyyo.com/united+kingdom...C68277103EF4/3608000652288800105.html/#images )

Here are my pics again, sorry. I drilled out the spot welds once to save as much material as possible but ended up cutting most anyway. It's a really easy task on a truck that hasn't been wrecked, The above grey one turned out perfectly where the white one turned out good enough for a truck that was in a front end collision. I remember there was a little bit of modification needed to the stock core support to get the correct rotation of the new bulb. It's only on one side and very obvious and easy when you see it.

For the record that white blister fender truck front end was really F'd up to begin with.

housing size? like the hole in the trim piece? The lamps are the normal 7" found on everything they're the same on the Gen 1 & Gen 2, the plastic is the different part. Those pieces are super different.

Toasty, I've been contemplating this swap on my gen 2.5 for a while, but I have exactly zero gen 1 donor core supports. I'm thinking of just fabbing a filler plate to infill the large headlight opening and using a universal bucket, like this one:

Does that seem feasible?
