Montero vs Montero Sport

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Yeah i hope they give it ONE name and stick to that, i didn't think they would do that again but here we have the Outlander and Outlander Sport. I lobbied pretty hard on the name as well as a return to Red Diamonds to mark the end of the "Chrome Era" cars but i think i struck a nerve with that one because i was snubbed for a while after that. When i write articles and letters to MMNA/MMC i try not to make them sound like the typical fanboy rant, my chrome diamond letter was pretty brutal in honesty and did have a bit of fanboy flavor to it.

I don't agree with your assessment about it being 'more a successor to the Gen 2'

You're right, it's a 3rd Gen Sport or 5th Gen L200 SUV how ever you want to look at it but no Montero. In my mind though, for those of us who are clinging to our Gen 2's it is the closest thing we might ever get to a new one.

I definitely agree with you there. If there's one thing I don't like about the Triton's (and probably the new Sport's) styling cues, it is all that chrome. I think they would look so much better with a color keyed grille and the old red diamond.

I suppose you're right if you're looking for a car that's basically the gen 2, just made newer and styled different.

I think one thing we all agree on is that any new Mitsubishi SUV that comes stateside needs competitive power output. Montero shouldn't come with anything less than 350HP and the Sport shouldn't come with anything less than 300HP, provided they continue the trend of being lighter than their class competitors.

I found one color keyed New Triton online and it looked far better than all the silly chrome, when that stuff gets old and starts peeling it's like razors too.
