Looks very much like the one I looked at a few months ago. Had a bad tranny. IIRC it was $750. I nearly bought it for parts but it was showing its age just about everywhere. Had a bad accumulator, ran rough, and needed a lot of RPM's to move. Wouldn't surprise me if it is the same truck.

Because unreasonable expectations for an 18 year old $1800 truck with 235k miles. 
He won't have records, he got it from his buddy.
I jeep-N-montero is more saying for timing belt front motor service. Valid concern, but for something this cheap, i'd just plan on baselining the truck first thing anyways. I have a local buddy trying to get ahold of the seller to look at that one for me. Will post what i find out if he can take a look at it.
I'm adventurous, so if i buy it, the first thing i will do is drive it 2000 miles.

You are correct, if there are no records then it could be a blown motor waiting to happen at 235k miles. I would keep looking.
