More then 1 truck?

Hey all, Just wondering if anyone runs more then one rig? I currently have a 03 7.3 super duty. Its all stock and am finally getting some positive cash flow going on and will modify it as a I see fit. However I love k5 blazers, I have Had a 91 silverado and it great... till I wrecked it. Then I had a 84 cucv m1009 which again I loved for it simplicity and the mileage was fantastic. Sooo I have been kicking the around the Idea of picking up a sliverado equipped Diesel K5. I dont plan On getting rid of my superduty, its a good platform for anything I need to do just be fun to have option 2 :coffeedrink: So What are your thoughts on 2 rigs?

If you have the room, and the cash flow to maintain/modify more rigs, go for it!

I have 2 pick ups, 4 Jeeps and the wifes Vue! Granted I'm trying to sell one Jeep and one truck right now......

But I'll still have 3 Jeeps and one 3/4T truck, the wifes rig, and will be on the look out for a SWB type rig for hardcore wheeling.

The other Jeeps are older, and I'm keeping them as clean and stock as possible.

Yes.

I can think of plenty of arguments to both have, and not have more than one truck.

Orig. Owner of a '96 7.3L that has been ignored for a couple years, thought I might sell it, but now think I will keep him around a while longer. Almost impossible to replace a clean, low miles F350 5-speed. Love my '06 4Runner and we shall see about the new Tundra. If you can afford the vehicles, insurance, upkeep and you want them, why not?

Nothing wrong with having a second girl as long as the wife agrees to it. My buddy has a well built 90’s Dodge Ram Charger and a slightly modified 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins truck. Both are prepped and ready for back country adventures at any moment. My main back country adventure truck is a ’78 GM K10 but have 3 other GM 4x4’s (2 Silvy HD’s and a Hoe Z71) that could easily improvise if needed. I am hoping to add a 2012 Jeep Ruby to the fleet for local trips this next year. My feeling is the more the better as long as the wife agrees, as that is all that really matters anyway.

For me, there's a simple formula to help answer that question: Money+Time+Space=2nd rig.

I have no spare money, little spare time for maintenance and Mods and no extra space in the garage anyway = 1 rig only.

But that really doesn't upset me, because my rig does everything I need it to do and then some. So I'm really happy with the simplicity and economy of 1rig.

There's currently only one other vehicle that I would want to own; 2003 Land Cruiser 100 series White/Tan with the 1HD-FTE Turbo Diesel  But it's not available in the US. So I'm content with what I have :smiley_drive:

I am a fan of not wheeling your daily driver. That way if something happens you can still get to work Monday.

Its nice to have one rig for your wheeling/camping/fun and then your daily driver that gets you back and forth to work. Its a lot less stress to realize you can get home late sunday nite, park your expo rig, and unpack and clean it later that week because you have another car to take you to work monday morning.

I find the advantage of two being the ability to slant the build to be more purpose specific. I have the PW and the Ford. One is much more offroad work specific while the Ford is more a travelling rig.

Personally I have always had two vehicles* and my viewpoint has always been to try to have them both be as different as possible. Right now I have a truck and a bike. The bike gets great mileage, easy to park, is cheap, small, easily fits on the truck, and is easy to repair. The truck rarely needs work, is big, can haul anything I need(or everything I own), but uses a lot of fuel, and takes up a lot of space. I think they compliment each other.

I would suggest that whatever you get you would be better off without two vehicles that are similar in size, mileage, cost, and parts expense. It would seem to make one or the other better for certain things.

*well, except for a stint in PA with only a heavily modified car that was much closer to a racer than a street car. That didn't work so well.

My little portfolio of trucks includes six 1986 - 1991 Mitsubishi Monteros (two 2-doors and four 4-doors), one 1987 Dodge Raider (best vehicle!!), one 1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max with Starion turbo, one 1988 Chevy K30 Scottsdale dually service truck, one 2005 GMC Sierra Crewcab, a 1983 Chevy Class C rv, and sundry trailers.

I recently moved the herd over 180 miles from one town to another, after purchasing a small ranch. A portion of the Montero group is made up of parts cars, Monteros that I gave my children for projects, and such. The MM is a daily driver. I'm on the fence about what to do with my 1-ton. RV is for sale. GMC is my wife's DD.

I have my Wrangler LJ and Scout II. The LJ is automatic while the Scout is manual, so in the event I am injured and can't drive a stick at the time, I still have my Jeep to drive. It's hell if you try to take the bus in Texas cities, or even worse in the southwest proper in the summer and takes forever to get anywhere. I will drive both vehicles equally to keep them in running condition.

This is my backup/plan 'B' vehicle:

I keep it in street mode as my backup vehicle. For expo mode I swap in the offroad wheels/gearing and dock her on to the back of the mothership. Perfect plan 'B' vehicle :roost: :ylsmoke:
