Most secure pick up bed cover

Define security. I live in a community with rampant car break-ins. My truck sits curbside every night except when I’m traveling. My soft tonneau has never been slashed. On the other hand, windows have been broken on other cars, and doors SlimJim-ed. My experience over several years with the tonneau plus locking tailgate is that it is secure. Out of sight gear doesn’t usually attract opportunistic thieves. It’s also light, cheap, easy to use and provides 100% bed opening for access or hauling in seconds.

I've never had my soft cover slashed either, but I also would never keep anything of value in the bed overnight. A soft tonneau cover can be opened without a knife or any other tools in about 10 seconds. Just pop open the velcro or snaps, reach under, and pull the latch cables near the tailgate.

So by security, I mean something that can't be breached in under 30 seconds with no tools. I know that nothing is safe if a thief has a pry bar and an hour to work on it.

I'm going with a Diamondback. Those are plenty secure for my needs.

If I ever buy another tonneau, it will either be a Diamondback or something like the Bakflip G2 that is a hard folding tonneau with the ability to flip up against the back of the cab to make the full bed accessible without removing it, and I lean toward Diamondback due to the ability to load stuff on top of it and secure it to the cleats.

We have a one piece "Undercover Classic" brand bed topper on my wife's Dodge Ram. Bought it used for $150.00. Lockable with LED light on bottom. Lightweight and easily removed when needed to haul other stuff. Nice cover that shows up for sale used on CL every so often.

We have sat 2 lawn chairs and us on top of it and watched the fireworks on the 4th of July.

I loved my undercover and I'm not bashing it because it worked great for my purpose, but it was far from secure. The lock just rotates a very thin rod under a thin plate. You can easily pry it up.

When I sold it, I told the new owner that it was keyed to my truck key and I wasn't sure how to re-key it. He stuck HIS truck key in and it worked! Pretty weak security!
