I CREATED A QUICK WEBSITE FOR INFORMATION

End of March 2008.
Tentatively, I am putting on a trip into Northeast Mexico. Five motorcycles only. Two of the bikes are 650s so far, and a maybe for a third.

Only a few hours from the border from McAllen, Texas. South east of Monterrey.

From the word on the street, there are tons of twisties and a ton of great gravel roads. Will be a great trip.
Excellent. Incredible area. I'm going to be thrilled to see the photos and read the tales that come out of this one.

I think I will be leading the pack, so, I will be sure to take tons of pictures. This passed weekend we went to Arkansas for a ride. I usually take a minimum of 100 pictures... and thats going easy. I went at the pace of the group I was in... I took 33 pictures in the whole weekend... maybe thats because my camera broke?

El Gringo Spectacular!
I'd highly recommend anyone who's interested joining in...it's an inexpensive trip of a lifetime!!! ...even if you had to buy a $3K Honda XR650L!

You won't be disappointed!

(Me...I'll likely be in Mex a bit earlier....I'm an official college professor next semester...so I gotta go during "spring break"....:) )

You could probably find a couple people willing and experienced over at www.twtex.com, the two wheeled Texans site. There is a dual sport section that does several Big Bend and Mexico trips every year.

It's also a very well run board much like this one, very nice atmosphere there for motorcyclists from Texas or wanting to ride there.

They just got done with a big Monterrey area recon ride, a lot of bikes split up in small groups and went out in every direction mapping out places for future rides.

I'm not PUSHING to find more riders. Just dont want to go by myself. Got 1 at 100%, 1 @ 75%, and a couple "really interested" folks. Colorado Ron, what are you thinking?

Tx Rider, thanks for the twtex link. I never knew that existed. Seems like someone is about to head to my neighborhood from that forum.
Just a quick look through, and it seems so much better than ADVrider (which I refuse to post at from now on).

So we have:
Me
Heath (75%)
HighTechCoonass (on adv, definate maybe)
Colorado Ron (Definate Maybe)

DATES ARE:
March 21-30, 2008
So start applying for time off! :roost: \

Yeah I figured Louisiana is close enough you'd probably like to know about the board. There are a few folks from your state there too, and there are a few rides from Galveston over to Louisiana all on the beach (old hwy 87) a couple times a year as well.

The shenanigans you see at advrider are not tolerated there...

I'd love to go to Mexico with ya, but the next year is going to be 100% build year, doing a frame off rebuild/repower of my M-37.

What kind of bike? You might have to pay me to pick anything up bigger than a 650. :shakin:

Brian has a GS650.

I am still shopping for my dual sport. I am not buying anything until the first of the year. I am hoping this is out in time. This might be the cats meow for a dual sport bike.

The dealer is saying spring. But, who knows?? I might just get a KTM 525 or a Husaberg 550 or 650.

I have a 2008 KTM 300XC...would be extremely annoying on a trip like that. I do have a 22L tank on order, for my Baja trip this January.
