Mountainsmith Cubes ?

Does anyone have any of the mountainsmith "modular haulers" ? I've got a few Pelicans and some Hardiggs but I'm torn between going the whole hog and buying the full compliment of Pelicans or getting some of these instead? They'd be going inside a drawer/storage system that I'm building for the back of my rig so they don't really have to be as rigid or durable as a Pelican.

Thanks

Jeff

I've seen them in stores and they seem ok. Not overwehlmingly stout, but a decent product. They'll save you some room and weight in your drawer system versus using Pelican cases, but they won't be waterproof or handle being tossed around the way Pelicans will, either.

I have a few of these (similar), coming from Thule.

Thanks - you guys rock :)

I think I'm going to give them a shot - they're something like $60 a set so in the same general ball parks as the small pelicans. I'll be able to fit two of them in the storage space I'm building at the moment.

After my experiences last year in NWT I'm trying to get as much stuff inside the truck as possible. The thought of having more gear stolen again makes me cringe.

The only things I'm a little skeptical about carrying inside the truck is of course gas and stove fuel - I generally carry around 20 gallons of unleaded and 5 gallons of white gas.

I use them inside the truck. Great way to save weight and organize your stuff. I only use peli's for the roofrack or cameras.

I have the 4 cube holder pictured. It came with 2 bonus cubes.

Since you're storing them inside drawers I think you'll like them. As long as you understand they're not rigid. I believe the material is waterproof but the zippers won't hold back much water. And they will keep the dust out.

I carry an empty cube or two and throw my dirty clothes in there.

Cubes coming today :jumping: - Have to modify the design of the box system for the back of my truck to accomodate the generator - and it means that I also have to figure out a better way to store the cubes. Width wise I can get 1 cube, the generator, tool box and multi outlet (12v, 110 and air). Now back to the choice of either storing stuff on the roof rack or pulling out all the rear seats.
