Mounting MaxxTraxx on a TJ

Curious if anyone else has had this idea...I have a set of Maxxtraxx and I don't have a roof rack. I drive an 04 TJ. I want to be able to carry my MaxxTraxx with me occasionally. I suppose I could strap them on the spare tire but I've thought of mounting them on the side close to the body. Maybe straps or some kind of home made mounting brackets sandwiched between the body and the hardtop that would hold them horizontal and securely.

Anyone seen this done?

Thanks

Sounds like you might run the risk of ripping them off the side of your Jeep, mounted like that. What about mounting them to pair of Hilift hood brackets?

Or depending on what front bumper you have, there are some tube clamp style Hilift brackets you could use to mount on your front bumper hoop.

Good idea....I have a hilift mount already. I'll give that a shot and maybe try the bumper. I like the bumper idea especially if I'm throwing muddy traxx up there to carry home. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've thought about doing exactly this, but I've not tried it or seen it done.

Do you mind taking some photos of your Maxx Traxx just holding them up to the side of the TJ - I'm interested to see the dimensions.

Thanks,

I have a full set of Maxtrax on their way from Sierra Expeditions. I plan on taking my own advice, and mounting them on the hood via Hilift hood brackets, as I don't really have any other place to put them at the moment.
