Mounting TwoZone Remote on Engle?

I'm curious how people have mounted their TwoZone remote thermometer to their Engle fridge. Photos would be great.

I have a Waeco fridge so this is not a specific Engle reply. I used to just run the Two Zone remote lead wire under the lid but over time, the repeated closing of the lid damaged the wire. This last weekend, I drilled a hole about 2 inches from the top and ran the remote sensor wire though the hole. I sealed the hole with black silicone.

I have heard the Engle has a access port that is filled with clay so it can be removed and resealed???

Please pardon another bump but it is getting into the 60's here in canyon country...camping weather! Anyone mounted one of these units?

I took apart the motor housing and unscrewed some things. Once eveything is loose, lift up the cooling assembly and slide the wire between the clay. The entire assembly will reseat itself and the clay will seal up around the wire. Hard to explain and visualize without pics, but it's easy once you start taking things apart.

I would like to find this clay filler port if it is on my Engel as my wire is beign smashed by the lid as well. Don't know how long it will last like this?

Sounds like TenaciousTJ found some clay. :) See post above yours.

Unscrew the lid

Remove two screws on the top of the back of fridge (below the controls)

The top panel with the knob will come off.

Remove the two white pins that hold the white plastic within the fridge

There's clay under there. Run your wire.

Reform clay and re install in reverse order...

Or if you want to give yourself some excitment, just get your drill out and drill through the case like I did. It's quite thrilling to wonder if you are going to hit a coolant line or not. :jump:

Mlachica,

Thanks! I finally got around to doing this and it was relatively painless except for removing the screws (tight!) that held the hinges...finally got them loose using a portable drill and philips head. The Two Zone works great and now I don't have to worry about ruining the wire by closing the lid on it.

Not sure what the two zone is but I just run a cheapo wireless indoor/outdoor type thermometer in my Engle and it works great.

IIRC the two zone is wireless so you can have the readout on your dash, and the fridge in your trailer or rear of your truck. Your situation works for you cause you can just turn around and see your fridge.
