Best I remember my 2007 4 door Rubicon got 16-17 mpg city (17 was milking it) and 19-20 mpg hwy if I ran the speed limit and doors and top up. Only aftermarket was a skid plate for the sway bar motor and a 2.5" budget boost towards the end of ownership and it was a 6 speed manual.

2009 JKUR, 6spd manual

When stock and taking it easy i can squeeze out 21mpg on the highway and 16-17 in the city.

Now with all the mods i get 15-16mpg in the city. Havent done any real highway driving in awhile so will have to report back later.

2012 JKU 6 spd base model. I mean base, it is a postal jeep with the steering wheel on the wrong side. People sometimes don't believe me but I usually get 24 mpg in high way driving. And yes, the mpg gauge is accurate as tested with math at fill up. This is with wife, kid, dog and camping gear. The key is to keep it at 65 but don't be afraid to give it the beans before you start climbing, you make it back on the down hill. I don't use my Jeep for commuting it is all for exploring and I am rarely in a hurry.

What I really like is the mileage at low trail speeds. You can putt around on light trails for days without having to go back for fuel, love the 22 gal tank. I have been pleasantly surprised with the thrift, comfort and capability of my Jeep. My first and maybe not my last American car.

I believe it. I was getting phonomal mileage out of my 07 when it was stock. That's probably the only good thing about 3.21 gears. I could eak out 24+ with my 07 under ideal circumstances after the 2.5" BB lift and 33s. If I'd gone with 3.73 gears on the 2012, I'd likely be getting 21-22 on the highway... however I know I'm going to 35s eventually and didn't want to have to redo the gears too.

I am pretty close too. 3" lift. 6 speed, 35's, 4.56's. Lockers. I am averaging 17-18. If I drive 70-75 I am in the 15-16 range. Remember you basically are driving a big box. The first couple tanks when stock were 20-23 mpg. I wish I had those days back again.

Mine is very well built and still performs flawlessly after 4 years, with mucho mods-

I guess they hadto sacrafice something to get the new engine !

By chance have you weighted your Jeep at a truck scale. I would be very interested in this information.

Thanks

No I have not weighed it. Though all our camping gear and the three of us used to fit in a Subaru.

'12 JKUR 6 speed. 2" JKS spring lift, stock tires, and warn 9.5 cti up front with stock bumpers at both ends. Also about 100lbs of armor underneath. If I drive slow enough to piss everyone off around me, I can keep it close to 20mpg in town and still keep it close to 21 on the freeway. I have found the key to keep it under 70mph. If I'm at 65, 20 mpg all day long, 70 drops me to 18 real quick.

The dirt bike on the hitch carrier does nothing to the economy. Towing the Fleetwood Evo1 camper gets between 16-18mpg and I keep it at 55mph (since we are limited to it here in CA).

My worst mileage? 7.4mpg... On the Rubicon trail... :)

My best mileage? Coming out of the mountains of CO during the cross country break in drive

I get a solid hand calculated correct speedo mileage of 21 hwy ...about 65mph average out of my 97 Jeep Cherokee country that I have around $4300 invested in. I drive 51 miles each way to work every other day..and back 51 miles of course. I have a 3" DPG hybrid old man emu lift and 31" bfg km2 mud terrains ran at 30 psi. It does go down to about 17.6 in the city however. my wifes 2011 Subaru Outback gets a consistent 31 mpg hwy here in flat Nebraska and 27 average in the City...which we try not to go to!

Just got back from a trip.
First tank was avg 18.3. I had to cruise set @ 65mph.
2nd tank the mileage dropped a little because we hit a cold front with a mean head wind. Knocked me back down to 17.5.
3rd tank coming home had a slight tail wind doing 65 I managed 18.9.
4th tank, hit traffic north of waco and never got over 60mph the whole way home. Wound up with 19.5.

Not bad considering the weight I have added.

When towing my trailer (3500 lb) I got in the 11 mpg range. Without the trailer it's closer to 18. Auto, 4.10s, OME heavies (2.5"), and stock 32" KM2s.

our new 13' JKUR gets ~17-18mpg highway at ~70-75mph but only gets 15mpg around town as my wife's daily driver. We still have under 6K miles which I have heard is the magic break in point for these engines. We will find out soon if that is true or not...
