MPT80 vs MPT81?

Just looking at some different tire choices for planned future mods and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the MPT80? I see they have more load rating choices which woud better suit my F350 but can't find much info on people who have used them. They must be very similar to the MPT81 except for the directional tread pattern.

I think its a good option so you don't have to run 22 ply tire when all you need is a 10-12. Thoughts?

It was my understanding that although they are a higher ply rating, the MPT81's are designed to be able to flex more under low pressures due to their smaller block tread design. If this is a consideration for you, definitely keep that in mind when choosing between the two. Not to mention the 81's should be smoother and quieter on the highway as well.

I had thought about getting some Axletech portals to put under the truck but they don't recommend them for highway speeds, especially on a truck that will be about 11K GVW. I considered some more Mog hybrid axles but we'll see what I decide. It might just be more feasible to use what's under the truck now. I guess we'll see how adventurous I feel.

Depending on what size tire you end up going with you should be able to get plenty of daylight under the stock axles. What were you thinking as far as tire size?

37s were my first thought, but the 41s look SOOOO good with a cutout flares and low lift that I am really leaning that direction. Still in the planning phases so we'll see how it ends up.

The MPT80 shows a speed rating of 62 mph, where the MPT81 is 68 mph. That may limit you just as much as the Axeltech portals.
