MSR Reactor Stove

I just ordered the MSR Reactor and it should be here any day. Who has one and how do you like it? I have a Partner Steel propane stove with other cookware, but I was looking for something quick to boil water when I just want to make coco and don't want to drag out my full kitchen set up. I hate freeze dried meals (Mountain House, etc) so I'm also looking for any one pot type meal ideas you guys have.

Supposedly there is a website showing recipes for the reactor, not involving the pre packaged freeze dried meals, but I haven't been ale to find it.

I've had mine for awhile and have used it plenty of times to really appreciate how quick and efficient it is! I'm considering getting the 2.5L pot because there's usually a group with us but it is so quick to boil that it's just as easy to boil another pot. I used to still bring my 2 burner stove and GSI Ketalist along with the Reactor. Now, I just bring the Reactor and my Baja Burner (plus my Micro Rocket as backup) and they have been all that I've needed. I wasn't expecting much from something that just boils water but, I'm impressed. Let us know if you find that site for recipes.

Cheers,
Salue

The stove arrived today, and it's extremely light but feels well built. Matter of fact, when I picked the box up, I though surely they forgot to put the stove and pot in there.

I have the generation 1. It has a slightly faster boil time, but at a cost of a little weight. You'll love yours! Its hands down the fastest way to boil water. Be careful, I don't know if they fixed it, or if they even thought it was a problem, but the MSR stoves generally are not well touted for their "simmer" capability. Other than that, I've used it where a jet boil started sputtering, (due to cold), the reactor just kept going. It runs so good, one day I'll have to use it like a baby deep fryer.

I need to go pick up some canister fuel to test this thing out. I'm aware that it's impossible to simmer using this stove. One idea I heard of was to keep taking the pot off the burner, and putting it back on so you don't burn stuff. I'm coming from years of using a MSR Dragonfly stove, known for its awesome simmering capabilities. But, I was tired of the set up, attaching fuel bottle, maintaining fuel pressure, then getting all my pots and pans out, etc.

I've been using the Reactor for a couple years. Great stove. Not as instantaneous to start as some as it does need a few brief seconds to heat up, but once rolling it's pretty great.

I use the smallest container for ultra-light romps. Love it.

Wow. This stove is impressive, coming from an MSR Dragonfly and a Partner Steel mounted in the Jeep. Looking forward to finding some delicious, non Mountain House type food to cook on this, during future adventures and an upcoming backpacking trip to Europe.
