Muddy Maze District Trip

Nice trip report. Looks like you were there when we were at Chaco Canyon. Lots of rain!

That bentonite clay shelf road is scary in the rain. We were with a geologist who was freaking out, since he has seen betonite clay collapse in the rain.

Great report, thanks for sharing. So did you have to make reservations at each of the camping spots in the maze? Or just the overlook?

Yes, we made reservations for both camp sites as required for any camp in Canyonlands. The application is at Canyonlands NP website.

We did this trip earlier this year.
Definitely some beautiful sights.
Also remember getting blown to bits at our campsite.
Seemed like an awfully long drive to the Dollhouse and then having to come all the way back out...

Great report, thanks.

What a difference a few days makes. We were there just after you (at Horseshoe 10/23-24, Maze Overlook 10/25-16, and Doll House 10/27-28), and by and large had sunny, clear and cold weather.

What a cool report. Checked out your thread too and I think I would have scrambled back to a paved road in those conditions.
