That $3k mechainic should have looked this up.

This is essentially what he did. he replace all of the evap lines in the system along with the charcoal canister as described in this pdf. He also replace the valves involved or at least mos of them - would need ot look at the invoice to see exactly which.

A week after he had addressed the issue for a second time and was done with it the CEL came back on. He said that the next step would be to drop the fuel tank and check/replace al the saels and sensors going to it. He made this sound like major surgury that only very few skilled people could do and that it would cost more. I politely said no thank you. Then two weeks later the light went off again.

As I mentioned the vehicle runs fine.
