My 2012 in Pictures - (Great idea Kurt)

My year started off slow since I coach my daughter's basketball team.



Then my dad passed away.



But I was able to get a little biking in....



My dad was buried in Arlington.



I was finally able to find a cheap kayak, so I had to test it.



A fish found a long way from water while Geocaching with my daughter.

Brian and Cindy from NY came to visit and hike and bike in the Uwharries.



I then took off for a week long trip, wrapped around two mtn bike races, in SC and NC











My first mtn bike race win!!!

Haggis and Michelle stopped by on the way from the beach to the mountains.



And I found a tandem kayak for cheap.



The Southern Classic Mtn Bike series was all summer, lots of traveling, camping and racing. On the outside taking second on the last turn.



Took a friend out for his first "real" day of 'wheeling' - but we agreed, a lot more fun to get somewhere cool at the end of teh day than the parking lot.



A great weekend camping near Grandfather Mtn with the family.




And my favorite hike, just my daughter and me, lots of ladders and rope assisted climbs.





The next weekend and back to the mountains

Looks like you had a roller-coaster year, but remembering regardless of the outcome is the most important to me. Great thread!

As the end of summer came, my youngest daugher and I head to NY to visit my other daughter and visit friends, hike, camp, kayak.... you get the idea.



One of the great things in the Adirondacks is lots of old fire towers with cabs you can still get in.











In September I got to re-enter the Land Cruiser club



And take it on it's first trip, the A.R.S.E.S. Float

Oct. was busy, several fall foliage trips to the mountains and start of cyclocross season.









And my daughter and me solo camped in the LC

Nov. came and went, we hiked a few short hikes like Pilot Mountain and raced lots of CX



Me face planting a barrier when I forgot I can't bunny hop two uphill barriers...



Then my Tacoma frame failed the rust test and Toyota replaced it.



Like New:



The year ended with my older daughter visiting for the holidays, a little hiking and shooting the young ones new .22

No it is an old homestead on Fontana Lake near the mtn bike trails in Tsaili. (I know the AT is close to there, but this was not on the AT) The lake was down, so we hiked around the shore and followed old trails up.

I'm envious off all the time you got to get out there this year...here's hoping for better days and even more "mucking about" time for the Capers Clan in 2013. And we can't wait to share another fire with you 'ins this coming year. :elkgrin:

Wow, amazing. That's some crazy racing I'd never do for the example you posted with the face plant.

I love the Adirondack's, it's my new favorite place.

I'm very envious at the amount of time you were out and about, good for you.
