My 2014 SoCal Krawler 459 Teardrop (with pics)

Since I got into the whole overlanding thing I've been looking into something to camp in. My old Coleman tent has seen its days. I started researching the RTTs, then the trailers with the RTTs, and then the tear drops. I researched a majority of the manufacturers out there and narrowed down my needs and wants. Obviously anything these days aren't cheap. I had to narrow down my search and stay within the budget I wanted to stick with. Also with that, I worked about 800 hours of overtime in the last year to pay for the trailer. So I was pretty determined to save up and get what I could afford and suit my needs. I'd have to say after going with the SoCal, I'm really pleased.

The trailer is pretty basic. But I added some extras:
-Roof rack
-extra galley drawers
-fridge slide
-bypass door
-LED lighting
-front storage cage
-35s to match the Jeep.
-some other little things here and there.

Here are some pics. I have more if you have any specific questions. I had to re-upload the pics cuz the others crashed on me

You got a SoCal? You going to come out to the NW Overland Rally this year? It'd be great to see some more tear drops out at the rally!

Got rid of the Jeep and got a 2015 Toyota Tacoma DC TRD Off-Road. Took the trailer out to see how it tows. Did great. Don't have the brake controller yet but it everything went well.

I too hope get a TearDrop but won't make the final choice of models until seeing more at Overland West in May. (SoCal, AT, Moby1???) Looking at your SoCal and knowing that SoCal makes the body for AT, what is the purpose of the pass through between the sleep area and the kitchen?

You can't really go wrong with whatever tear drop you go with as long as you do your research with each. SoCal was very helpful and more in my price range than the Moby. I didn't go with the AT just cuz I didn't need to get extreme with the suspension.

I really liked the Moby but it some options are standard on the SoCal which was more easy on the wallet. Plus, their back log is pretty big and SoCal had a better turn around.

The pass through is just something they have standard and you can choose to keep it open or you can put a door or screen option on. I figured I'd add the door for privacy if the galley is open and someone is inside getting dressed or something, mainly for the wife.

awesome! do you have any future plans/mods you want to do to it? I spent years saving for my teardrop too and it is awesome when you finally take it out. Prepare for non-stop questions whenever you park the thing or get gas. it seems everyone is "considering buying one"

When I ordered the trailer I had a Jeep JKU. I had the tire size match, 35s. I ended up selling the Jeep and got a Tacoma. So all I have planned for now is to change out the wheels and tires to match the new truck. I'll do that when I get new tires for the Toyota and lift it.

Only other plans is to have some curtains made with matching pillow cases, haha.

Just curious what do you use for Bedding? Are you using sheets and a comforter or sleeping bag? I'm about to order an XS510 which is a little larger than the Krawler 459. But the bed's are oddly shaped. Any help would be appreciated.
