My 2018 Runaway Venturist 4x8 build out, Denver CO. Fly Fishing basecamp.

Hello- New to the forum. Building out my Runaway Venturist... Not aiming for a hardcore, long term overland build out. Just something that can be safely pulled behind my 2014 2 door Wrangler and help me stay where I want to fish for a few days.

I started with a base model 4x8 Runaway Venturist and chose the following factory options:
-max coupler
-matching wheels and tires to Jeep (AEV Savegre and 285/75r17 BFG KO2's)
-custom tan paint
-rear door
-extra side door

Runaway is a great family owned FL company that has built around 2000 campers since 2012. Quick leadtimes and really nicely priced units.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any build questions or comments.

I began work on the outside of the Venturist. Added a water jerry can and mound, roto molded fuel container, power tank propane tank mount, exterior LED lights on both sides and rear, interior reading and LED strip lighting, Renogy 160w flexible solar panel, maxxfan, usb charging ports and a little shelf above the front window.

With everything mounted and in position, I can begin to wire the electrical system next.

Lots of work, lots of fun to come.

Rear Galley, Electrical and Solar time :)

I went with a Renogy MPPT solar controller, 160w Renogy flex panel and 2 Optima blue tops. Optimas are mounted in lower left of rear galley area.

I really wanted a silde out stove in the small kitchen galley area. Love the all aluminum Camp Chef Mountaineer. Storage is underneath the slide out shelf.

Built staggered dividing wall (still have 6'3" room inside for bed). Inside cabin there is room for a small TV and a shelf for bluetooth speaker to sit and charge when not in use. Blue Sea fused switch panel sits to right of TV and lets me control all lights and 12v devices.

Next up is Rhino Rack Crossbars, Roadshower 4, Batwing Awning, and a custom rack for RTIC 110 cooler on trailer front.

Those things are awesome. I'm from Florida and currently in colorado. The guy that started runaway is from a location very close to where I'm from in Florida. I'd love one, one day. Sweet trailer man.

Got the RoadShower 4 mounted on the crossbars.

I'm using the "Water System In A Can" setup on the green pass side jerry can for drinking water. Added a quick disconnect waterproof power connection to side near the jerry can mount.

Worked with Mountain Man Welding and Fab in Denver to build a custom bolt down mount for the RTIC 110. No more lugging that thing around. Also ordered some 1/4" HDPE and cut it down to size for custom dividers. Liking it.

As a side note, how do like the BFG 285's? Looking those to replace the stock MTs and want to add the same size for the trailer and the.

Justin is a great guy. I looked at these as a sturdy blank canvas for those who want to customize their build outs on their own. Proven Timbren Axle-less suspension, solid frames and backed by a company with good people. But its of course very easy to just have them do the build out too :)

I love the 285/75... but its a pain to order them. The 285/70 is much more avail it seems.

When you were researching your trailer did you ever look at the WeeRoll trailers such as their "Wrangler X" or the "Overland"? If so, what was the deciding factor(s) for the Runaway?

https://www.weeroll.com/off-road

I can see pro and cons to each of these. A "best features" from both trailers would seem to be the ideal setup.
