After literally years of researching different rooftop tents, I came to the conclusion that they all had something in common. They are all out of my budget.
So I started drinking tequila to further fuel my ADD and then it struck me. Why not just find a small pop-up trailer, remove the axles and toss it on my ladder rack.
So after 30 minutes of looking on craigslist I found a 1966 pop-up trailer made of aluminum and wood that is water tight. Made the guy an offer and dragged it home with one flat tire for about 3 miles. Pulled the axle off (only had to remove 2 bolts), picked up some extended support legs and waaaaaala.
(Ignore the straps in the first picture, it is now bolted straight to the rack)
