My '86 4Runner - A work in progress

Just a quick update. Got the alternator replaced only to fry it with an undercharged battery. Exchanged it for a new one and got a new battery only to find that I had a leaky #3 coolant hose. Got that replaced. Went to install my All-pro T-case mount e-brake only to find that the driveline is raised to much for the disc to fit on the output shaft. So now I've got to find another solution for my e-brake issue. Just another day in 4Runner land. :jumping:

You know what is really crazy...the 2wd from made from 84-95 has the same rail shape as the 84 and 85 4wd. a 2wd Sort bed single cab is almost dimensionally the same as a 1st gen 4Runner. One set of body mounts is not quite right but easily corrected. Look up "project Quasimodo" on pirate.
[hijack] This is excellent info! I'm thinking of converting my 2wd turbo truck to 4wd to be my next exploration rig. Now all I need is a V6 5-speed.......[/hijack]

FWIW I've seen the Total Chaos IFS idler arm in person (actually co-dogged in the truck that one of the early prototypes went to it's first B1k on, on that trip!) and had I an IFS I'd be saving my pennies to get one. It will be the last idler arm you ever put on the truck.
