So, wait, no more VK?? Wow!! Though that 6 sounds like it'll be mean, too ...

Great that you post more, I've been wondering about this truck. Hope all is well.

Hello friend! It's been a while :) I couldn't register that VK56, sadly :( Now might sell it to someone who doesn't care much about police!

It's Nissan's TB48DE 4.8L inline-6 DOHC, VTC, with 99.5mm bore, 102mm stroke (standard). The block is used, along with the dynamo, oem ECU and harness, intake hose and filter (for now), but all other parts are brand new from Nissan dealer. Total cost is around 8,000$, only some mild shaves to the head and aftermarket 2.5-3" exhaust system, and maybe a sport oil pump later for better oiling/durability. In factory numbers it makes around 280hp and 295 lb-ft, so it's safe to say it might be just above 300hp which is more than enough for my exploration trips if you put in mind that the original engine produces around 160-170hp :) This engine looks like my factory engine TB42E 4.2L because it's a revolution of it (TB Family) so no police would suspect it, especially without the covers indicating 4800cc

Sorry for the poor quality

Of course I won't do things like those who race lambos, ferraris etc :)

Sounds pretty good to me! Plus having something that's more ubiquitous over there certainly adds to the reliability side of things; which is never a bad idea, IMO.

Looking good!

Thanks buddy! :)

Yes, it's A LOT easier than the VK56DE to maintain, getting married soon so I should maintain marriage as well XD

I still prefer the V8 sound, though the big inline-6 isn't that bad at all. I drive around 50-60 mph mostly, so the extra power didn't add much as when you're offroading you don't need that much of power, especially on slippery grounds.

That VK56DE cost me a fortune, around 23,000$!!! Still happy with what I've learned from it and the people that I got to know through it :) Now it's transferred into another Nissan Patrol and I'll see how it turns out. I might end up buying another Patrol to keep the VK56 which might sound stupid -_-.

It's been a while :) After the TB48DE project is done, now I thought again about the whole car which isn't in a good form, so changed the whole car and transferred the work into another 96 model :) And changed the diffs with Y61 (GU) ones but with no diff-locks (maybe later?). Only Y61 4.8L manual transmission is missing!

All parts will be collected from 3 different Nissan Patrols and put the best into my next Raad 2.0 (Thunder 2.0!!). What's left from the older car is the manual transmission, 4 sony speakers, wheels and tires, interior extra handlers, front/rear steel bumpers, steel flares! R.I.P Raad 1.0 :(

After spending lots of money on this Patrol, it's now time to make it RIP :) The car has been sold and I'll be buying a brand new 2016 Nissan Patrol (Y61) SWB, 5-speed manual, rear diff-lock, sunroof, Black outside with red leather inside. It comes with TB48DE 4.8L inline-6, DOHC twin cam, 24-valves (248hp@4800rpm, 310 lb-ft@3600rpm "EEC net"). It'll cost around 145,000 Emarati Dirhams from UAE, which is 15,283 Omani Rials without some few taxes (around 39,696$). It costs around 160 AED (16,864 OMR, 48,204$) originally but now being discounted for 2017 models after few months, I guess. Although it's small in size it's still heavy because of its heavy-duty diffs/chassis/drivetrain in general (2210kg without winch "4872 lbs"), it would look like this from outside, except I might change the stickers:

And a custom red interior :)

All of them with 2 solid axles, 4.8L engine, rear diff lock.

You sold the last one? Now I need to unsubscribe. Why, why, why? Why did you sell that last one?

Well, I will subscribe back if the new one meets the standards of the last one.

But congrats on your new purchase and looking forward to seeing pics and the build.

It's the police headache, you need to inspect the car every year = Take off the lift kit, take off the wheels and tires, take off the steel bumpers, take off the steel flares, they check for every tiny rust possible! A new ride means according to the existing law it'll not be inspected until 2017 (after 10 years, sounds good!). Electronics were not working properly lately and the car seems to be like an open pocket if you're after perfection with low grade garages around.

Another sad story, this 2016 model would be the last model of this legendary model! Not sure if it'll come back in 2018 from another country as the Nissan Pathfider has 2 models here, the old version as "Classic"

http://www.drivearabia.com/carprices/uae/nissan/nissan-pathfinder-classic/2016/

Which is being produced in Spain, I think. So I expect it'll move to another country and come even cheaper like in its factory in Thailand or Taiwan instead of Japan. The TB48DE 4.8L inline-6 still has no problem here yet, but I think they might consider another choice, and I doubt Nissan would go with the 5.6L, the 4.0 V6 sounds more realistic to their approach. But it's still possible to see 5.6L V8 on it as it's heavy anyway, and expect to see new diesel as the 3.0L turbo-diesel won't pass the new regulation in Australia, Europe and other parts. The new 2.3L diesel of the Navara might be the choice for it, the cummins would be too much or maybe they borrow another version from them.

My builds should be slow as always, but the should have the potential *_^ At least expect more nature-oriented thread :)
