My beach fishing trailer

Just thought I'd show some pics of a fishing trailer I use to tow the 60 miles of beach to get to the Mansfield Channel. That's my 14yo learning to drive a clutch in one of the pics.

I know that view. I really do miss it there. Best part was living in Bluff, right on the Lagoon...

Enjoy the fishing...

More pics. Gonna build a kayak rack for it next, that will hold up the center of the grey tarp.

Nice! I am tinkering with the idea of something similar. We often go out for a day or two with 4 people and the gear/food adds up quickly.

What did you start off with a base? Any special rust prevention steps (my other big concern)?

thanks

My rust prevention steps?

I bought cheap. I pieced together the whole truck/trailer rig off craigslist for about $2500, plus some elbow grease. That way, when it rusts out, it won't bother me!

I'm going to try my best not to let the shark fishing bug me because i think its a cool rig. RInse it off well after your weekend and your rust problem should be no worse than any other trailer out there.

I hose it off afterwards, and yes it is definitely rusting.

BTW, I am a strictly catch-and-release fisherman, whether Texas shark, NW steelhead, Sierra trout, or anything else. I only live in TX, I wasn't born here. When I tell a local that I released a fish, they inevitably say "Why the heck did you do that for?"

I have some new pics, but the file is too large (bought a different, cheap underwater camera) so they won't load...

OK got the pic downsized enough to load up.

Kayak rack is ready for kayak. I'll use it to paddle the bait out to the 4th gut. Anybody have a used kayak they want to sell?DSCN0018.jpg

South Padre Fun

That was my favorite place to fish in Texas. Stationed at Ft. Sam for 6 years and spent allot of weekends fishing S. Padre.

Well, you're in OR. Fishing there doesn't yield big game, but the scenery is infinitely better. Lived near Philomath for 3 years, TX got nuthin on that.
