I am trying to decide on deep dish trans pans:

I am thinking about deep dish trans pans too, so is the Mag Hytec pan really worth the double cost?

I had the single deep Mag Hytec on my 2nd. gen. Fluid changes are a breeze(well almost) and the pan stiffens up the tranny case also. It allowed more fluid also. It's an extremely well made product. With my DTT upgraded tranny and the torque convertor w/drain plug, I could drain 14 qts out of a 47re.

Ordered up some gauges and a deep trans pan today through Pure Diesel Performance, $700 was a little more then I wanted to spend but it should help me keep everything in check.

Got my gauges and deep trans pan installed on friday, just waiting on a boost bolt that wasn't shipped out to me so I can wire up the boost gauge as well. Looking at the latest issue of four wheeler, my boss and I were talking about adding a roof top tent to my ram to make it look similar to the Tundra on the cover. We might actually be making an overland rig out of this truck in the future.

Did the deep pan cost you much ground clearance? Does the transfer case/transmission cross member still hang lower?

The deep pan is even with the bottom of the cross member from what I remember putting it in. I got the double deep pan, they make a deep and a double deep. In addition that thing is built like a tank! I was very surprised how heavy and thick the aluminum is on the pan.

Not yet, I use this as my DD and tow rig between the times we take the "company" duramax trucks out so I haven't driven it much in the past week.

After going back in the desert I've decided on a few more upgrades for the rig, mainly suspension to help it move a little better and some skid plates. Asfir 4x4 had a bunch of aluminum hi lift jack bases to use during the race and we decided it would be cool to use one to shield my fuel pump since it hangs off the frame, I'll grab some pics when we put that one. They don't make anything to skid the rest of my truck yet, but who knows what the future will hold.

Next up is shocks, I am thinking a 2.5 or 3 inch remote resi shock on the front and 2.5's in the rear, plus some sway bar drop brackets or link extensions up front. Who has done shocks like this on a CTD? Will I feel a significant difference going to 3.0 inch shocks? Also what have you done for valving? Right now the truck is just leveled and on 35s.

Don Thuren is in Bend and can lend a hand. I'm running his King 2.5's and towers due to my camper load. To be honest he can probably just valve you up a set of 2.0 Fox's,depending on application. His 3" coils give you a true 3" of lift. Some guys are just shortening the factory overload bar on the bottom I'm reading giving you more rear articulation at a bargain. If it's a tad low in the back he sells super height adjustable HD shackles for leveling and more articulation. www.thurenfabrication.com. His site is incomplete and it's best to call or e-mail him. He'll get back to you within 24 hrs. Very positive, knowledgeable guy to talk to.

He calls his coils soft 3 inch coils, does anyone here run them with a heavy winch bumper and winch up front?

That may be overkill for them, but he's an authority. He valves his shocks for the coil rate. E-mail him or better yet, call and he'll give you an honest opinion. He'll return your message within 24 hrs

So I changed the plans a bit and ordered up a Yukon Spin Free kit since I will have my carrier and pinion bearings changed out at the same time. I got a smoking deal on the kit, which is why I picked it up, but I am not sure I want to keep it still. Does anyone here run a unit bearing eliminator kit on their trucks?
