We are working on a design for my GSD. My brother gave me his old Ocean Kayak. We placed a board on top for her to lay on. It works Ok, Just need to keep her on board. She likes to be "right" next to me all the time. Need to find the pics....

This was in a 17ft Coleman I believe:

Capacity is around 700lbs and I recall the price being around $600. Was a bit tippy at times with no load in it though.

hey shatt i'm in this process also, i have been fishing from a jonboat but i want something smaller/solo'ish. i was really thinking about a fishing kayak but i am leaning to a canoe again, just so much more space. i am really looking at the old town (pack?) its 12ft made for solo but with lots of room for a dog and some gear and get this it only weighs 35lbs. for about 700 bones.

my local shop has one in stock and it is crazy light.

The pack is awell made boat but is very tippy. I would not suggest using that canoe for fishing unless you are willing to change the seat configuration to make it more stable. By change I mean remove the seat completely and put in a custom set up that sits you only a few inches off the floor. Similar to an old ruston style canoe. You would then se a long kayak styel paddle like 240 cm minimum to power it. You can rig a pack like this easy.

I personally love that set up for a fishing rig and have built several. Many advantages over a yak with minimal negatives. Here is apic of my all time favorite fishing rig I built. 12' 27lbs and this is the heavy construction!

wow nice boat !!! even has an anchor trolly,,,,good to know about the pack being tippy,, crap what to buy? the one kayak(sorta) that really has my attention is the native ultimate, but my budget is for a used boat and they are hard to find.
