The production quality control issue is one that all the outdoor gear makers are fighting with. Wired Mag last year had an interesting write up about manufacturing being brought back to the US. The leading industry was outdoor gear. #1 reason was quality control. #2 was more ability to implement fixes in production runs and smaller production run ability. #3 Was product design security aka reducing cheap rip offs going out the back door of the factory.

Update/Resolution:

Bobby came and picked up my tent and mailed me a check for the purchase price last week. Problem solved, problem staying solved.
