I am using action packers in the same way. No suitcases just use the action packer, can load it in the trailer, when time for bed set it under the trailer, no worry of anything getting wet and easier to tie down. Wish I had access to those though, some great planning on your part.

I have learned that the more one is prepared for a camping trip the better the trip will be.
I alwyas forget stuff for the kids so thes boxes help us stay organized. Plus we know what
is in each container. I know the fire will be hot and quick to start. A requirement for hungry
boys.

I had a alien visitor this day. He must have come from the Solar flares . I like him.
I think I will keep him a round for a while..

I actually thought about something like that, when designing mine. But the wife rained on the idea, no stoves at knee heigth, nothing hanging at eye level, needed real counter area. But there may be room on the side of the turtle. But I have faith this builder will figure out just what is needed, if he survives the Visitor!!!

Nice day today. Wired up the spot light in the front of the turtle. Everyone needs to see what thay are doing once in a while.
Installed a proper ground on the battery. No more blinking lights. Took a few measurements for future works. Installled
a cool zombie switch in my truck for my offroad lights. played with the boys and installed the new clothes washer.
busy day..

Storage side.

Why dont you try this on one side - maybe both??

Re-hinge the door from fold up (hinge on top) to fold down (hinge on bottom) - this would give you an awesome tabletop???

Would also solve your issue of the 2x4 holding the door up - and as you dont have weight on it - you wouldn't need any expensive struts or stuff, and it looks like it would lay flat on the mudguard with maybe a small spacer in between them?????

I consdered this as well. The piece of steel is too heavy to hinge form the bottom. I thought about spiltting the sides by using hinges.
I would then have the bottom half for the shelf and the top for well the top. The amount of space between the sides and fender is about
the width of a penny. I would love to have a set of roll down doors. Doors like a bread box.

Thinking more about the use of the trailer. Thanks to 95RRC for bringing this to my attetntion.
I was just going to put four gas charged shocks on the doors and call it done. I dont like this idea
it will not be good for making the trialer as easy to use as it should be. Not all grounds are going
to be the same elavation and grade as my yard. Gee I am glad you all are around..

I think I have it solved. I need to try to find someone with a brake to redo the doors.
I thiought of this. I would have the shop make a T bend in the metal ,that was I can haave a piece
that will be able to serve as a helper shelf. and then the sides will open like a regular cabinet door.
Now to see if Eric can weld me a frame for this..

Another thought...cut them in half vertically....if they are too heavy for one hunge. Although I do find that curious as the hinges on a M416 top that Sierra 4x4 use seem to have a lot more weight to them???

Cutting would give you four access doors - may be a pain, but also four tables...

And also a possibility for water egress...so maybe not the best idea...but...a thought.

I am messing around with some ideas. I remoed the steel side and have been mocking up some door ideas.
From havng 2 sliding doors ,to compartmental doors, to the extreme of boarding the sides up and
cutting the doors out, so they would be "recessed". Who knows. funds are tight so I gotta be creative.

I say leave them as with a couple of gas struts sourced from a hatchback in any junkyard. Then build a smaller half door hinged at the bottom which folds down to act as a bench on top
Of the febder
