My M101 project

Ok, so I have been a lurker on here for the past few weeks and I must say, the trailers on here are awesome! You guys have definitely given me inspiration and a ton of ideas. I actually went through all 99 pages of trailers!

I picked up an M101 for a total steal a while back and am finally ready to start working on it as time and more importantly money allows. I must say I am planning humble beginnings for it as opposed to what I have seen on here but it will be a work in progress and someday maybe it will be a beast like some of you guys have built. My main priority will be utilizing it for hauling a bunch of gear, such as up to 7 mountain bikes, a couple of kayaks, tents, coolers etc. I might paint it tan to match my Jeep too. Anyhow here is a couple of pictures as it sits now. I will post up more as I make progress. Always open to ideas and suggestions. And if any of you are in the Tampa area and know how to weld and want to lend a hand, by all means speak up!

I believe you have what is called " combat Rims " 5 stud wheel, same as the M37 and the old Dodge Power Wagons. Rarer than most wheels, hard to find. My M37 wheels are just the plain split ring wheel, most shops won't mess with them.family and FJ55 016.jpg

Nice 101A1

Sell the wheels and axle
Matching wheels and axle " no extra spare same as the jeep"
Keep the lunette works great and is simple.
Paint to match the jeep.
Kayak racks fabbed to fit in the stake pockets
Bike hold down system in the bed.

Thanks Mark. I had already checked out your build. I really like how it turned out and mine will be very similar.

I love seeing all of these M101 builds! I think they are great and they are not wider then the JK's. Those are some big tires 74CJ! I wanted to run 37's on my trailer because thats what the jeep has but I did not want the hitch angled down I wanted it level and 34's are what did it. I have to say those tires and wheels look so cool though!! Keep us posted :wings:

Man the tires are big. I think the 16 inch wheels on mine are to big. I'm planing on switching to a 3500 lb axle in the near future so I can run the same bolt pattern as my Cherokee. How does that thing pull with your Jeep. People say they are too heavy for Jeeps to pull but I can move mine around the yard and I weight 160 lbs dripping wet.

It pulled just fine. I picked it up in Naples which was about an 185 mile return trip and it did just fine. Couldn't pass up the deal I got. Won it on eBay for $315!!!

That was a good deal. I paid 750.00 for mine, but had to drive like 10 miles total to get it.
