Got it licensed today. Boy what a headache, but oh well, it's done.
So here's the deal, it's a Canadian M101, VERY excellent condition. Purchased from another member on here, excellent deal IMHO.
I decided to keep the pintle lunette ring, figuring it would be easier on the hitch when flexing across obstacles with the trailer.
I've also sanded down the outside areas that had surface rust (only rust on the unit was surface), and primed them to protect from the elements. (You'd be amazed at how quickly stuff rusts being 300ft off the pacific ocean).
This is still in the beginning stages, but I did do a few things to get it to pass DOL/State Patrol inspection-
Switched out the stock 24v bulbs to 12v bulbs.
Added "Lite-Boltz" for the license plate light.
Added reflecive stickers around the outside (white in front, red in rear).
Wired an extension to the modded 4-PIN harness (did that 10min after buying).
Planned mods-
Lid. Going to weld together 1"x1" square tubing around the outside of the top and a piece of steel sheeting over the top (don't know what size yet, going to read up on what others are doing). Hinges and hydraulic supports. Adding a handle for the wife as well.
Also wanting to put a platform in front to carry a small propane tank and two 5gal water cans.
On each side, 1 in front and 1 in back, weld on brackets for 1 5gal scepter fuel can each.
On the rear I am planning on two bumpers (steel strips bent back in and welded on) and a spare tire. (stopped by my local tire shop today, they said they can't even get the tire that's on there, Michelin doesn't make them anymore).
So, we'll start off with pics, and I'll add as mods start getting added.
Oh, and absolute next "mod" is sanding and priming the inside of the tub, then spraying it either flourescent yellow or keeping it primer grey. Not sure of the color, but know it will be bright for easier "seeing" of what's in there in low light.
