My M1101 build

This will be slow-going, so don't get too impatient... I picked this trailer up last year and have been waiting on the title to get cleared up before I did any work to it. Now that the there's a title in hand and it's registered, I started getting it road-worthy last weekend. My Jeep ('09 JKU) is already on 37's and lifted 4.5", so I didn't need to switch out tires or any funky raising/lowering of the pintle/lunette. I have a custom hitch (can't use factory because I've got a Poison Spyder BFH rear bumper which necessitated removing ~6" of the rear frame rails including the rear crossmember), and it sits up a few inches higher than stock.

Converting the wiring to 7-pin / 12V was pretty much a no-brainer, and all the lights work just fine (just not the blackout stuff). All the marker lights are LED (and the blackouts), but the tail/stop/turn lamps are standard. I still haven't made a license plate mount for it yet, but I'll likely do what many others have done; make a detachable mount that goes on the rear leveling leg mounting location.

I haven't had a chance to load it up yet, but I took it out last weekend (empty) for its maiden voyage around Saguaro Lake. I even took it up a few rock walls behind the Jeep. It sits PERFECTLY level behind the Jeep; it's a bit wide, but I don't mind it. As long as it pulls ok when loaded, I'll be happy. I'm geared 5.13:1, so that's helps a bit too.

Anyway, here's a few pics (although, it's not much to look at right now):

It sucks having to remove the plate every time you want to stabilize it. Plus, at least in Texas, the plate illumination would add another connection. So I placed mine at the rear under the tailgate, drilled and tapped two holes for it. Then added two LED motorcycle plate lights to each side, connected to the rear center running lights. It really does not hang down much, no further than the lights do anyway.

Looks great behind your Jeep. Nice looking Jeep too. I just bought an M1101. Where can I get the parts to convert the lights. I would actually like to change out the lights to LED.

Standard bulbs, just get the LED versions. Hardest part was testing each wire to replace the end with the 7 way end.

I just replaced the 24V bulbs with 12V versions. Going this route, you'd need (2) 1156 bulbs and (2) 97. As for converting those two into LED's, I haven't researched it. The rest of the marker lights on mine were LED and still worked fine; just a bit dimmer.

As for converting to a 7-pin (blade), I followed this diagram and it worked perfectly (not mine; found via Google):

ETA: Things change fast around my place...lol. I've already sold the M1101 (just a few days after I took it out for a test drive). I was offered a fair price for it, and I was a little bit concerned about the weight of it when loaded down. I could pull it empty just fine and the size didn't bother me, but I thought a more conventional-sized camping trailer (that's a lot lighter) would keep my underpowered 3.8L happier.
