I am on my 2nd tank of 91 octane. I got 17.4 avg mpg last time. Exact same driving conditions... same temp, time of day. The moon was closer, JK! My house to work and back. I live 50 mi from my work so I eat gas. Normally I drive my wifes vw beetle to commute in (03 turbo s, not old aircooled lol)

Im not sure I buy rthe carbon build up=^compression. That would have to be a signifigant amount of build up. This runs too well to have that kind of crud. I will admit that it is running better now than when I got it. (I did add a magnaflow muffler) I will be adding a k&n soon too.

It may or may not be your problem, but it is a known combustion engine issue, just google it and or check those links I listed above. Regardless, hope it keeps running good for you on the 91. :)

I do think the previous owner mostly did inner city driving and doodled around town. It was really hard to get into 4wd. I dont think they ever used it. Funny thing about these trucks, they seem to get better the more you use them :/
