Congratulations Dendy. Looks awesome.

Not to hijack the thread, but I will mention it because Dendy and I have PMd adnauseaum. I must say I also came out of the closet without even fully being in it. After looking for and considering many LRs, I ended up picking up an 07 Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD. Although it is not outitted like Dendy's, I am very happy with my decision.

And I will second Dendy's sentiment about the brand with a short story. I recently went to the International Auto Show in Miami. While LR had the usual display with hot chicks (not that there is anything wrong with that), Jeep had a course outside the place where a hot chick in tan shorts took me on an "offroad" course to demonstrate the capabilities of both the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. Best part of the show. She also mentioned thy are going to put out all vehicles in 4x4 from now on. I think that says something about the direction the brand is going in...

Welcome to the sickness! :) I understand your concern over making the switch from one platform/brand to another. But that is the advantage of growing older. When I was in my teens and early 20s I thought Jeeps had to be built "X" way or they were not "cool" of capable enough. As time goes on we (hopefully) learn to listen to reason (and poping and cracking joints!) and come to understand our own personal needs and habits. Sometimes its hard to walk away from something you have great loyalty to due to one's shared history and memories. I've been a Jeep addict since I was knee high to a tit mouse so I understand. But from reading this thread it sounds like you have migrated to what you need perfectly! Congrats!

Dendy, your AEV Jeep is totally sweet. I love it. I also appreciate the angst you must have gone through in purging your fleet. Very cool that you were able to sell it all in one fell swoop. I would love to hear more about THAT story!

Everything about this cool, and I think I understand your comments about the people/opinions/attitudes as well. Who needs all the negativity that can come with the oval, eh?

The only thing I can't quite fathom is describing the LR3 as huge and lumbering.... compared to a stock Jeep!!!! Really, that is a head scratcher to me. I think there is a LOT more emotional complexity to her feelings than what you are sharing here, but I'm really happy that you listened and moved proactively to make her happy. Good for you!

So how "improved" is the interior of these vehicles. Can you comfortable talk on you cell phone? I hear a lot of how the interiors have improved.

The LR3 in all reality -- had a "van-like" stance to it and it is weighs quite a bit more than the JKU. It just isn't as "nimble" as the JKU (in her eyes- which is all that matters- When Momma's Happy- Everyones Happy!

Absolutely! Even in the soft top version (which I test drove). In the soft top model that had hard full side doors, ... I was able to carry on a conversation with three in the back seat with as much ease as any regular automobile.

In both my truck and my wifes, we both have hands free blue tooth built in.

Works great!

Not promoting another forum on here as spam, ... but you asked, so here is the link:

Main Site:

Link to authorized Dealers:

And vehicles for sale can be found in that same section, along with used in the section below. Any dealer selling AEV trucks, ... the trucks fall under full factory warranty and everything sold on the truck is covered. They also qualify ... if a 2011 for the 0% finance incentive currently offered.

That's a beautiful pair right there, congratulations!
That Sahara Tan has quickly become my favorite Wrangler color.

Very, very nice! Congrats to both! I also love the Sahara Tan, too bad they discontinued it.

Hmmm? It still show's to be an option on the Jeep website and was available for the 2012 when we ordered ours.

James: They did an initial run of Sahara Tan in 2012, but now have stopped offering it as well as Natural Green (for a while- I am told).
They are still out there. A super nice 2012 AEV listed at a dealership in Illinois on AEV's website- new trucks for sale.
