Might be timing cover or look at the front main seal, too. This seal tends to wear a groove into the pulley that weeps oils. Sometimes just a new seal is needed or a Speedi-sleeve if the groove is deep.

Yeah, I might be the only person in Yotaland to have removed the metal guides, header, Air Lockers and crawler gears in favor of stock parts. We like it more the way Toyota built it, quiet, reliable, easy on gas.

Thanks Dave! I'll check it out for sure!

I agree with you on stock Toyota parts its just hard to believe that plastic guides could be better than metal guides but seeing yor pictures leaves me wondering

I haven't updated this thread in a LONG time so I will add a few pictures and update it a bit. The intended use of this truck was for hunting but I find myself driving it quite a bit around town getting groceries and whatnot. I also have had it down to Mexico for 2 seasons now and it has performed flawlessly. Right after I stopped posting on this thread I bought a set of load range c BFG's off of craigslist for $300. They were brand new…

I made a couple trips up into the mountains here in CO and took it up some pretty steep and rocky mining roads and it just went. You put this thing in 4 low and point it in the right direction and you'll get to where you want to go

I then bought a Blue Ox tow bar and mounting kit and mounted it to the ARB bumper. I am able to disconnect the driveshaft, put it in neutral, disconnect the battery and turn the key to the to the on position and flat tow the Toyota anywhere I want to go. It works out perfect for what I use it for. I just flat tow it to the ranches and use the hell out of it

You can see the tow bar brackets in the above picture

Looking good! You know, I may have seen your truck. I'm over in your 'hood most Fridays to pick up stuff from the dairy where we're members and fill growlers at High Hops... Mine is real similar but in white XtraCab. I have a bull bar, kinda the same stripe, etc.

I am running Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 in the diffs and Amsoil gear lube in the transmission and transfer case and it shifts like butter now. It used to catch in 3rd gear but no more with the proper lube. I am also running Rotella T5 10w30 semi synthetic oil because it has a lot of zinc in it which is great for these 22re engines. I am weird about maintenance and research the hell out of the various products before I put them in my truck. It doesn't leak or burn any oil at all.

This year I sold my Dodge so I had one of my guides drive the truck down to Mexico and back. It drove perfect and got a little over 20 mpg on the interstate. Around the ranches it just sips gas and I used less than 4 gallons a day and that was amazing considering we do some high racking every day.

High racks are also used for laundry purposes in Mexico. This is the only picture of the rack to show you guys what it looks like. Basically, we get in the rack and I have a driver that drives us to where we want to go on the ranch. It really helps to see game in the desert

Next time you are in town look me up and I'll buy you lunch

As the season was winding down I decided that I needed to give the Toyota a little love. It has performed flawlessly over the past two years and I really want to keep it looking nice. The engine is in great shape as are all of the mechanical aspects of the truck but I have been rough on the body driving it over and through just about anything in the Sonoran desert so I made up my mind to get it detailed and to keep it in the garage. My daughter is 2 and I want her to drive this when she's old enough. I just like the truck that much. Its perfect for Mexico but its just so damn hard on vehicles there. I don't want to run this one into the ground so it will stay in the states from here on out and I will use it here only

Here is is about to cross into the USA a couple of weeks ago…

You will also notice that I took the camper shell off. It was nice to have but the back hatch was falling apart so I took it off.

When I got back I decided to give it the love and attention it deserves and I took it to a couple buddies that detail cars and they went to work

Those were the pictures they sent just last night. They called me at 11pm and told me they were extremely happy with how well the paint came back. The pinstripes are gone and the oxidation came right off. When I went to get it today I couldn't believe how good it looked

These are the same guys that detailed my 4Runner and they are amazing at what they do. I am thrilled that I have it to where it is and I will keep this thread updated as I take it around CO this year. Its a blast to drive and its just damn hard to find clean little Toyotas anymore
