My new sliders!

I like the look... I would recommend going longer with them in the future, and avoiding vertical welds along the frame. Overall great looking, really adds to the rig.

Looks great Clark. I really like how those sliders look. Are you on 235's?

...Why is that? Does it have a negative effect on the frame?

Yes, without going into the indepth structural aspects of it, a proper frame connection would use a "fishplate" or gusseting directly to the round tube in order to reduce the instances of stress. Not as big of an issue on a boxed Tacoma frame, but still a good practice in sound fabrication. It is very important on single wall frames (such as the rear ends of older Land Cruisers) and many other makes/models.

Thanks, good to know.

Your sliders are very similar to mine..... I recently did a mod to add kick outs, this made it much easier to pivot turn around boulders. I'd be worried about the unprotected area past the end of the slider......

cut the back portion off and extended to the end of the body seam

bent a piece of tubing 135 degrees and welded it in place

The back doors just clear the kickouts a little over an inch and stick out almost flush with the width of the rear wheels.

Clark wanted them as tight to the body as he could get them, so if they were just long enough to go flare to flare they would have had to be mounted a little lower than he wanted and to top it of they ended up being mounted 2" to 2.5" to far back from the front flare. Here are some pic's he took before they were tampered with and this still wasn't tight enough for what he had in mind. I just hope he's happy with them and he's had a chance to bounce them off some rocks.
