I just couldn't resist such a good deal. This was used for a number of years by the Search and Rescue I am a member of. Originally a '77 Dodge m886 used in the Marine Corps. 318 V8, auto, 4x4. 23k original miles. Purrs like a kitten! As of right now, I have no idea what I'm going to do with it...ideas?

thats awesome. id do a 4bt or 6bt/nv4500/your choice of case based on needs. swap in som 2.5 rocks and 53" michelins! as little lift as necessary to clear the diffs, make the sheet metal work. then i would do a custom like version of a flippac on the roof, or even a sportsmobile type setup. though, the flippac will give you an outer bed, leaving more room in the box for comfort. stretch the frame and add a crewcab, run 100gal fuel, setup like a camper. water, toilet, stove, fridge.

cool project! the above suggestions is a future project of mine, someday!

Find a place for a good sized 12v fridge, a 5g propane bottle, a 20g water tank and some jerry cans. Stick a motorcycle and some camping gear in the back along with a propane stove, a small Mr. Buddy heater and a porta-potti.

Then just go.

Nice truck! Might need a part time kit.

Does it have the cast iron steering box that bolts directly to the frame or the 2wd style box that bolts to a bracket and then to the frame? If its the 2wd style box I would go with a crossover system. If its the direct bolt on box I would leave it.

Nice find!

How is the box attached to the cab?

I would ditch all but one of the top cots, set the rest up with some sort of heater/cookstove/shelving thing. Then add a moto on a hitch rack(I really don't want fumes inside with me). I would swap my trucks 12v/getrag/205/d60 in too along with a 14bolt. Add some tires in either a 35(unless it has them already) or a 37/39 and go to mehico and pass out on a beach.

But thats me.

Very cool. New paint scheme. Get hide-a-bed type set up and what ever amenities (fridge, fresh water, loo) you use and go enjoy it.

Just BAD ***!!! I love it and I want one! I would try to setup the rear more like a motor home with fridge/stove water, and new paint. You have to keep us posted on this one, I am way jealous.:Wow1:

i've had my eyes on an 886 sitting here in town wasting away, it'd be awesome with the 12v/g360/205/d60/d70 out of my truck with surplus 37's and hook the rear up with normal slide in camper type ammenities, i def second the rack for a bike on the back too!
