Wow can't wait to see the execution of this! I've watched the video of Paul May setting up the bat wing awning a number of times it is such a clever slick setup.

Will you have separate poles of will they be integrated like the bat?

From your first picture it looks like you are emulating the Manta with the larger rectangular coverage before going to our shaped. Is that correct? In that configuration I'm not sure how the fabric gets attached?

Yes it is like the manta with larger rectangular section first . It will be over door to tear for adding a room to.
As for integrating the upright poles into it I will make that call once it is attached to the trailer and setup. All the poles will slip into sewn pockets under side of awning.. The end poles start and end of fabric runs will also be attached with a removable (IE. snaps) to allow for tensioning once it is deployed. Once I have it on trailer I will look at how every thing tensions and go from there.

Cheers

I don't understand exactly how the fabric works for the Manta.... is it all one piece, including the rectangular section? Or is it two pieces? I can't visualize how it would work as all one piece.

its all one piece .

here's mine shown in one piece.

one end of the rectangular section is fixed then the far edge is tensioned to pull the whole thing tight.

Thanks for the explanation. That's going to be an awesome awning setup.

One of the big things I want to make sure that our future TD will have is good protection from the rain. I think the rear hatch door like you have and this awning will be a perfect combo.

Have you given any thought yet to how it will be mounted and how you will bridge the gap from the roof to the top of awning to keep rain from that gap?

I think I need a bigger truck!
Its too small Mike... too small.

lol

Looking awesome man, can't wait to sit under it with the fire going and a good scotch and a cigar in the rain.

It will mount directly to my roof rack. bolt thru with front brace. Ill bridge the gap with same awning fabric in short sections.

I know its to small Greg but I cant make it any bigger trailer will blow away heh
