My Salisbury diff mesh pattern so far

I *think* that I asked this once before, but I've slept since then and have no memory of any answer. Can the U.S. Dana 60 gear sets be used in these axles?

I have been told that is the case. The issue for me was I needed the 47/10 Rover ratio, which is not an off the shelf item at the the US-based axle shops. I did order most of the bearings and shims from one of them (I think it was Randy's R&P).

D60 R & P gears can be use but I do not not know the specifics as to what needs to be done. Get in touch with Keith at Rovertracks. I've been toying (no pun intended) with going with the Toyota third member conversion in the front in which case I'd need to match the gearing in the Salisbury using standard D60 gears. Of course I'd need to get the 35 spline shafts too.:elkgrin:

That's looking good James! I agree with the gallery that the pinion needs a few fewer shims, then pull in the ring for a good backlash setting, don't forget a bit of preload on thoses carrier bearings I like about .010" or .005" per side once the pattern is right.

It is pretty simple to use Dana Gears in a Salisbury. The pinon nose bearing is the only thing different internally. The spines on the pinion are also different, two solutions here, get an adaptor pinion flange from Tom Woods or go to a Standard D60 flange that uses U Bolts and upgrade the driveshaft to 1310 joints. The flange from Woods is probably cheaper and you can still upgrade your driveshaft.

The # for that special pinion bearing? If memory serves.

AHA! There is the difference. I figured there was a reason. Can't say that I've seen a 4.70 ratio for a D60 ever, but I'm far from an expert on them.
