For two adults, two small kids, and a dog, the JKU still has it's limits for storage, I'm still trying to decide if I want a roof rack, or build an expedition style trailer. I like the idea of a well equipped trailer so we can set up a base camp and venture out from there. That is still a little ways away due to cost, so after seeing the camp kitchen/drawer system a friend built in his jeep I set out to see what I could come up with.

After a bit of time with a tape measure, some research online and seeing what I had laying around I built this. Using the dimensions I found online I found I could fit four Rubbermaid action packers and have room for gear, or dogs on top.

What I had is a little thin for two dogs, but I have the room needed for our dog in the back seat so it's all storage now.

Full load with almost everything need for a weekend in the back country.
Instead on four action packers I was able to load the essential 's into two, and our BBQ fits in the other side , so that was a bonus.
