My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

There is a variety of reasons that they could come lose - angled parking, side to side movement in the camper, light weight roof, driving, and so on.

Translation: by using the camper or driving the camper somewhere to use the camper could cause the camper support parts could come loose and allow the roof to crush you.
Please order a homemade security strap (additional expense) as we never envisioned someone attempting to use this camper outside of the controlled environment of our factory!

The lift bars swing up over center, and should therefor wedge into place, using the weight of the roof and tension of the liner to hold. There is a variety of reasons that they could come lose - angled parking, side to side movement in the camper, light weight roof, driving, and so on.

an easy to install security strap kit is available for the Phoenix Simple Lift..............

One would think if you have a kit, you know the top coming down is a problem with your camper. Why should he need to order one? You should just send one to him. Pretty sure you have his address. One would also think the safety strap would be standard equipment with your lift system.

Why don't you step up and really fix this veteran's camper?

Why not just send him the kit? Or, why not just call this customer and make him right? If it takes writing him a check, getting the camper back, and having him sign a "do not discuss on internet any further" agreement, DO IT!! You are making yourself and your company look terrible! The amount of lost business and bad vibes from this thread alone is probably worth $25k.

my .02 cents.

I would guess that Phoenix doesn't have $25k to refund to MYTACO.
They seem to be living "camper to camper", and most likely spent all their money on that bronco, bronco, bronco camper and engineering fees on their "fix" for the collapsing tops.

I spent 2 years researching pop-up campers and when I posted an inquiry about Phoenix several people on RV.Net, and Wander the West directed me to MyTaco's post. After reading through the post and Victoria Palmer's it became clear to me that Phoenix Campers wouldn't be included in my search. I researched Hallmark, Outfitter, Four Wheel Camper, and All Terrain. All four of these companies are well respected and no where in my research did I find anything negative. RV.Net, Wander the West and Expedition Portal all had great reviews and my communication with owners confirmed my research. After 1 year I narrowed my research to Four Wheel. The cost of the Hallmark and Outfitter were nearly double what I spent for my new Four Wheel Camper. In the end I choose FWC over All Terrain because they had distribution closer to Indiana and it boiled down to my gut feeling. If I lived in California I would have visited both manufacturing facilities and maybe my choice would have been different. I 'm very happy with my decision with FWC. This is a very large investment and it needs to be right. I'm very troubled by the negative shots taken at both MyTaco and Victoria Palmer. They both didn't get what they paid for. I have watched FWC & ATC step up when there have been issues with owners campers, and in one case FWC providing a brand new camper when it was discovered that the frame welds were not up to company standards. There was an issue with the outside lift assists and FWC sent out a updated component to each owner with instructions. There have been so many stories about FWC & ATC working with clients that decided to purchase a used camper that became available. They offered advise and help when these owners needed to make repairs. This done after many hours of time with these potential buyers and the loss of a sale on a new camper. It is all about service and stepping up when there is a problem. Tom and his staff at FWC have earned my respect, and I look forward to meeting them in the future. It is sad to see people go through something like this and not get any support from the manufacturer. If Phoenix addressed these issues head on, this post would have been 2 pages instead of 30. I wonder if this is covered under the "Lemon Law". It sure would be worth checking this out. Longhorn 1

Ha! Its funny how companies, including the pop up truck camper companies, can advertise their products on the Internet and Forums to solicit sales. But once a PAYING CUSTOMER speaks to quality, especially bad, everybody gets a little squeamish. Freedom of speech. Funny a Canadian needs to mention this immediately after Remembrance/Veterans Day! MYTACO is communicating with the same medium that the camper companies use to advertise. Free Market, Capitalism, Globalization, call it what you will. Its all good, and we are lucky to have it. Customers need to watch what and where they spend their money, and companies must consider "word of mouth when producing their product"

IF Phoenix produces good campers - they have nothing to worry about.

I applaud MYTACO, Victoria Palmer, RUNT, LONGHORN et al. for communicating their experience. Its good for everyone.

Ya fix this . Geez just make a new camper. It called make the
Customer happy too. He's not asking anything beyond what he paid for. Suck it up make a new one. I have seen many older popups in better shape then that one. It looks like it old and abused

Sorry that came across the wrong way.

I was not trying to take sides.

I should have used my better judgement and stayed quiet.

My apologies. Post deleted.

Nor did I Stan. You have always been a gentleman. I feel strongly that customers should be able to express themselves on this same internet space that the companies advertise. Whatever the situation, MYTACO should feel free to post his perceptions without being discouraged. I appreciate that there is the negative publicity for Carl, however MYTACO is arguably out a lot of money. After all, Carl signed up to build and sell campers. MYTACO and Phoenix must let the chips fall where they may. It was this site that prompted me to buy a FWC - it works both ways. If readers did not care this thread would not have carried on as long as it has.
