My yellow Jeep LJ build up

I was looking at my winch and saw how the sun had faded my winch line. This got me thinking about getting a cover but I never really cared for them so I went out into my climbing gear and got a 22' section of webbing. I then unspooled the winch of all it line.

I then feed the 22' of webbing over the 3/8'' line. This was a pain but I got it by first feeding bailing wire in the hooking up the line and pulling it back throw.

So now I have one 6ft piece of webbing over the spool, a 6ft piece near the hook and a 22ft piece after that. I should protect the line form the suns UV's little better. And I got to wash of my winch line and roll it on nice and even.

I've been really thinking hard about my "needs" VS "wants" for this jeep. I have to major factors that I let stop me that wheeling a night and water crossings. The first can be fixed with some light. How much, what kind, mounted where I don't know yet. I've been doing some research but have not made up my mind. As far as water I need to get my air intake up and out of the way. I've have to cases where I messed up on water crossing that stick out in my head. I had a close call in this Jeep when the water was deeper then we thought and I got water into the air box. Every thing worked out good and no issues with that one. But I wasn't so lucky some years ago when a few of us were young and dumb. We were hitting some small 3''-6'' puddles out on the tank trails and I hit a larger hole to fast and sucked water into the intake. Totaled the motor in that little S15. Completely my fault but stinks none the less.

Great wish the MPG were better but its a jeep

Yeah cannot do much with that. Crap MPG and 4WD get you stuck in the best places in the world.

Is the ride/ handling better in the LJ than the TJ? Is that extra length pretty noticeable?

I've been wanting to upgrade my lights for sometime now. After some research and talking to others I ordered the Hella Rally 4000 in euro beam. They came in and are bigger then I imagined. The build quality is great.

You have to disassemble the light install the bulbs and wires then rebuild it.

All put together and ready to install.

Stock jeep fogs (also Hella) VS Hella rally 4000

I started by stopping of at the Local auto parts store and picking up some parts. I know I over built this but thats just me. I used 10g wire for everything minus the wire that was already in the lights wire harness, 40 amp circuit breaker and 40 amp relays.

I used this wiring diagram on my last Jeep headlights so I tried it again on this jeep.

10g ground wire

40 amp cuircut breaker

I still need to clean it all up but heres the end result.

I wanted to tuck them in closer but the recovery points are in the way. I'm still on the fence about their size on my setup.
