for us cali folk I would think the "not for fuel" on the deutsche cans would be a deal killer. Not only are they non carb, but also not approved for fuel if they are carrying that stamp. I wish it was a sticker instead.

The "not for fuel" stamp allows them to sell in California, so this is a good thing! To play it safe in case I ever got into an accident and so rescue teams would understand what is in the cans, I got a set of DOT compliant GASOLINE decals from this site (http://www.compliancesigns.com/DOT-13231.shtml) to cover the "Not for Gas" stamp on the can. And since the cans are not RED (DOT requirement for carrying fuel if not notated for fuel on the can), having these stickers covers you so won't get you any heat from a Ranger or cop. In that link, go to the "label" tab and the 2.5" label is the one you'll want as it fits perfect in the center and there are 6 in a pack. Shipping was quick and I put one on each side of the cans but you really only need 1 since only 1 side has the stamp on it.

Dude, I totally appreciate the heads up on this as I did not have stickers on mine. But in my search I found the following which you may be interested in:

From an CA Air Resources Board document on PFCs (Portable Fuel Containers) and since the law changed I believe these fall into this category, I found mentioned:
"...permanently embossed or permanently labeled, as defined in 49 Code of Federal Regulation Section
172.407, with language indicating said containers... "

So I looked up C.F.R. 49 Section 172.407, which is (49 C.F.R. § 172.407 Label specifications Title 49 - Transportation)
And section C states the size must be at least 3.9 inches.
"(c) Size. (1) Each diamond (square-on-point) label prescribed in this subpart must be at least 100 mm (3.9 inches) on each side with each side having a solid line inner border 5.0 to 6.3 mm (0.2 to 0.25 inches) from the edge."

So you may want to re-order the 4 inch ones.

British atlantic or landroverparts.com sells the nato cans without the metal stamping. They have a sticker either on the can or on the paper that was used to wrap the can.

my cans came in today and I'm very happy with them, but they appear to have the same manufactures stamp as these from Atlantic British. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=10&f=17&t=655096

I'm not 100% positive (more like 90%) that the cans are the same but the AB cans only have a sticker rather then "not for fuel use" stamped into them.

The Gasoline sticker does a fine job covering the stamp but if you look close you can still see that its under there.

WOW $50 ea. I used to get 5 for $50 from the Pinz dealers a few years ago, of course they were used but in excellent condition. Man should have bought way more of them.

This can does not look like real NATO can the green one on the first website is the NATO can in EU military it is used for DIESEL fuel only.

^^^That doesn't look like a real NATO can to me. The spout is centered instead of off center, causing the tab on the latch/lock to be flipped toward the inside of the spout instead of outward. I think the one in your pic is the knock off because all the real NATO cans I've ever seen do not mount the spout over the seam.
