If your thinking of heading into SF just be aware we have a terrible smash and grab issue. Any cars with gear, in sight will be looted when parked in the typical touristy areas. We never had any issues the 12yrs we lived there but we kept the interiors void of change, chargers everything. A good friend had his jeep window smashed for a water bottle and bag of dirty gym clothes. Yes its that bad.
But!!! If you head across the GG bridge and visit the Academy of Sciences its much safer out that way. Its pricy just a warning. But if you want a close easy parking locals eats place try Tia Margarita on Clement St. Its a classic 50+ yr old locals joint. Good food and Margaritas. Etc.

Super cool place in Marin Headlands just north side of the gg bridge. Look up the Pelican Inn swing by for a beer or potpie etc. Check out the massive gun batterys in the Headlands. Some cool history up there and great views.

You could leave the 4runner in Sausilito safe and hop a ferry over to down town SF and check out the water front cool area in SF. Totally walkable

Cheaper and very cool SF bay adventure take the tiburon ferry to Angel Island. Hike to the 900ft top for a 360 view that will knock your socks off. The Ellis Island of the west coast.

Thats why I suggested Angel Island. Its a whole different world with views that just cant be found anywhere else. We head over for mothers day this weekend.
