Need a spare wheel for a trailer using jeep JK wheels SOLVED

I have heard rumors that a person may use a Jeep Grand Cherokee?? space saver spare tire
as a smaller alternative as a spare tire for tight applications. I however do not know which year(s)
work. I have seen some threads post where someone identified the years that work, but am
unable to find the post now that I need them. Hopefully someone can help me out. I live way
out if BFE Arizona and have a 240 mile drive one way to a good wrecking yard so need to
know what I am looking for before I get there. I ordered an axle after measuring and included
the wheel spacers so I could use JK Rubicon wheels. I temporarily mounted the spare above the
rack but wish to mount it underneath the frame on a crank up spare mount. Picture included to
show the trailer. Needs to fit a jeep JK Rubicon backspace and bolt pattern
Thanks

Not sure about a space saver spare on an adventure trailer.
Odds are if you need it you will not be near pavement and space saver spares are definitely not going to survive 50 miles of trails.

maybe try a skinny truck tire like a 7.50R16 or 7.00R15

7.50 vs 245/75

I too, doubt a space saver spare would last very long off-road. You can get a tire winch from and stick it underneath. I did that with both my M-416 and Scout trailers and never had clearance issues.

You never mentioned what trailer you have.

Its a dinoot copy of a M416 maybe 600 lbs total. It was my understanding that the
space saver tire used was a skinny tire on a skinny wheel. Even if it is a shinny wheel,
I could use a 7.50 or 7.00 just need to find a skinny wheel.

Any tire retail shop can source a rim.
I got mine, a 6.50x16 with 5on4.5 from Kal Tire.
If you live in snow country everyone buys cheap rims for winter tires.

This is why I always supportnmy local retailer instead of shopping on line.

I will not be using the tire from the space saver rim, but only the rim as others have
done.
the only rims I have been able to locate have been 8 inches and wider
and this is too wide for the space available.
I would love to find a 6 inch wide rim. 5 would be fine. A 7.50 tire would be perfect.
I need 5 on 5 bolt pattern for a jeep JK. The trailer is an M416 clone.
I have the springs under the axle since it sat too high for my needs. No clearance issues
I have seen individual on this forum talk about using the Grand Cherokee space saver rim
with a good off road tire as the spare.
so if some one knows the years that work (Grand Cherokee) or where I can buy a narrow
rim.

I may have found an answer for individuals who are using jeep JK wheels on their trailers.
The jeep JK bolt pattern is 5x5 ( 5x127mm) .
It is a 17x6.5 wheel from a 2013 to 2020 dodge Journey.
I have ordered one and will let you know the results.
