Need advice on ‘92 5 speed locker options.

Hello,

I’m currently looking at gen 2/2.5 montero’s, preferably either an SR or a manual. I just found one in my area, a 1992 with the 5 speed manual. I think it’s the base model.

From what I understand, this has the 3.0L engine, and thus the front diff is 8” and rear is 9”, but I could be wrong.

What are my options for lockers? Do I have to regear to get an OEM locker?

Any tips appreciated, thanks!

Look them up on Car-part.com, there are a few rear ones out there. Front is either a custom machined Starion Diff or aftermarket, I bought a Russian torque sensing diff for the front on mine, there are a few options out there.
