Need OME measurements for a Nissan Frontier same as the OJ Featured Veh.

Hello, I recently swapped some shocks on my 02 4Runner and changed the type of shocks mounts I use (stud top to bolt eye switched to bolt eye to bolt eye). I have the OME entire shock catalog but dang it's huge. While flipping through the OJ I saw the featured Nissan Frontier and noticed the OME rear shocks. I wanted to know which P# or what lift this was so I can either look it up and determine the extended length and the collapsed length. I'm using cheapo explorer procomp 9000's and the valving is no where near that of the front landcruiser shock I had. So in short I need measurements or part numbers so I can do some more homework.

Thank you

How about the year of that vehicle though I doubt there's a huge age range. And perhaps lift height though as long as the #'s are good it won't matter much.

Aaron,
That shock isn't even designed for the Frontier, so really that information won't help you out. There's a long road that will take us to why I chose that shock. But I'll spare you.

It's the same shock that comes with an OME Tacoma kit from the early 2000's (I don't know the exact year range).

I have a few of those long road stories myself. Well the fact that it is for a Tacoma almost guarantees it will fit the massive stud mounts Toyota likes to use. This has actually been helpful and as soon as I find some #'s I'll post them in the event other want to follow your lead.

Ok well I made some progress. The N85 measures 587mm or 23.11, 357mm or 14.055". I cannot remember what the #'s were that I needed. I think 13" was the static length but not sure I'll have to look up the Explorer pro comps #'s that I have.

Well I ordered the N85's and we'll see what changes. My 4Runner currently sits with eye to eye measurement of 17 1/2" and compressed would be 13 so if my math is right with the suspension articulation the N85's should almost be an exact fit. Though the 1" compression difference might end up being a problem sheesh but won't know till I break it.

Excellent!

I had to make some spacers with tubing to fit inside the bushings so they'd fit my shock bolts just right. If I remember correctly, these shocks are really for a Toyota application. You might be in good shape.

Yeah thats sounds about right. I had to lube up the bushins that cam with the explorer pro comp shocks and use a C clamp and hammer to get them onto the mega large toyotas shock stud mount. I welded in new upper mounts to accept an eye to eye application as the vehicle cam with a upper stud mount that was a major PITA to tighten. So now I should be good. I find it amusing that I saw your truck (loved it), saw the shock and was like yeah that looks like it will fit (only and 1" off), man those OJ photographers must be using good equipment. Not to mention the fact you were willing to help me out with what it was actually for. I know you can't imagine but I have run into snobbery of some forums before. So thank you, and I will let you know in a week (when the shocks arrive) how they look and feel. They have to be valved closer to my FZJ80 shocks as the procomp ones are just to soft.

Thanks again Articulate

What a shame I'm not quite ready to take them off yet. I've got another idea cooking for the rear suspension and will be be getting rid of the N85's.

Did you get them yet? I'm sure they'll fit the bolt studs now.

Well it's not rocket science just suspension science and if you know how to work the numbers it makes it a bit easier. The rock crawler guys at the shop nearest to my work are always extremely patient when I start with "this is what I need". The were able to provide me with a PDF from OME which helped. What ideas are you thinking of for your rear?

Seems to take forever form these shocks to get to FL from WA.

Are they coming from ARB directly? If things don't work out, let me know, I've got several sets of N85's in stock and can have them to you as fast as you want to pay :D As a note the N85 actually predates the Tacoma, it is an FJ60 rear shock on the 19mm pin applications (~85-90'). If the N85's end up to soft or too firm you could always go with the N90 or N94 in fact I think the N90 would make a great rear shock on a heavy 4Runner or heavy Tacoma.

Hmm wish I had known I would have liked to have had something a little firmer than the N85 now that I have them on. I'll run em for a bit and see how it goes. They certainly ride better than the procomp 9000's but they were just starting to get broken in, they were a little firm and made a noticable boing if sitting in the back.
