what should be next? just sold my maggiolina to a nice guy on the board (thanks, jeremy). that sale + some other fun money could go towards a ton of small mods(skid plates/camping gear) or a few big ones(winch/fridge/roof rack, etc.....

one thing that we are in need of is more storage, but i know our mpg's are gonna suffer, so think on that one, too....

Next, i would probably do rocker panel protection and a gas tank skid. Also pick up some recovery gear if you don't have any.

Skids and the recovery kit to go with your High-lift. Makes it like a come-along. wil stand in for a winch til you can afford one. does alot of the same stuff just takes longer. Armor is always good. You can drag yourself over a whole lot more than you think. Lifts and tires don't get you half as far as skids and recovery stuff.

hey...thanks for the comments so far.

here's my existing recovery kit

-viair compressor
-safety seal plug kit
-30-40,000lb tow rope (no metal hooks on the end..lol :D)
-tree saver (used to have a winch on past rigs)
-a few d-shackles(2-3)
-about 30 feet of heavy 1" thick para/load cord (very strong, recovered a few vehicles with it, before i had my "real" tow rope)
-flashlight
-first aid kit
-shovel/axe
-fire extinguisher
-tool set
-jumper cables & usually one of those costco compressor/jumper boxes
-set of o.k.offroad steel sand ladders (regular length-cut in half and bolted together)
(they work very well as shorty bridging ladders
to make up for stock approach/departure angles.
used them the last time we were out to keep the
truck from swaying over into a HUGE boulder on the
right side of the trail)

probably forgetting something...

so unless you see some gaping hole in my kit, i guess i'm trying to focus on strengthening weak points in my overland " vehicle system"

skid plating and protection is a very viable choice, IMO...
