Nene Overland says Jeep Wrangler is the replacement of the Land Rover Defender

Now we got to keep the pressure on Jeep to keep solid front and rear axles. I think many Jeepers in the U.S. would like the option to buy a diesel also.

Not to sound snobbish, but I was pretty unimpressed with the driving technique in that video.

Kinda expecting to hear the off camera person (holding the camera) to yell out:

Come'on Cleatus! Bump it! Get'R done man!

Interesting choice of wheels and tires on that Jeep. Looks more suited for a night on the town rather than hitting the mud. I think the Wrangler will make an excellent replacement for the Defender. It is very, very capable and is in keeping with the utilitarian, function over form spirit of the Defenders. Plus, they are a lot cheaper than the Land Cruisers. I'll stop there lest I invite a flaming from the Yota diehards.......

Nene Overland are aware of a time window gap due to the defenders replacement so ensuring other products (jeep etc) continue their trade.

Here, defenders & parts are becoming targets of businesses and thieves full aware of the supply & demand despite 3rd party suppliers, not wishing to put a dampen to the topic but defenders have a huge enthusiastic following both business and recreational however to own one will have pitfalls unless regular parts can be sourced.

Honestly, I'd say that the Wrangler Unlimited has been the superior choice for an overland platform versus the Defender for quite a while. The Defender used to have payload and efficiency on it's side in the SWB Wrangler days, but a Wrangler Unlimited can carry as much, matches it for fuel consumption, and is an EXPONENTIALLY nicer place to spend time.

And, honestly, having ridden with a Defender imported to North America on a trail ride, I honestly think the Wrangler is the better off-road platform. Granted, it may have been more down to the driver than the vehicle, but the Wrangler definitely seems nimbler and more stable, the Defender I was watching (A 110 wagon with a mild lift and your normal array of overlander gear) was wallowing around like mad and had to 3-point turns that the Wranglers cruised through no problem.

The Defender is a fantastic vehicle, no doubt about it, but it hasn't had the updates and development the Wrangler has seen in the past decade-it's just outdated, and I don't trust Land Rover to carry on the sheer simplicity of the current one to its replacement.
