New 03 Ram

So the slow build has started. I found a nice Delta tool box for the bed for free. In the tool box I plan on keeping a duffle with recovery equipment, my tent, sleeping bags, fishing poles and tackle box, and some tools. My main tools will go into some cheap roll up tool cases and put under the back seats. Since the Ram has fold out shelves under said seats, I am planning to use the short side and place a small fridge there. I do not want a camper on it only because I like full access to the bed. If I don't want to set up a tent then I can tarp it off or if weather permits, just sleep in the bed under the stars. My Googlefu is weak today but I know they make transfer tanks for diesels but do they make them for gas motors too? I will post pics as I progress.

Took the truck for its first road trip Sunday. Went to Mingus Mountain in AZ. No major wheeling and its nice since it wasn't too hot up there. Basically thought of this as a shakedown run for the truck. Everything worked fine, though I gotta have the tires balanced as I have a vibration around 75. So far all that has been done to the truck is we cranked the torsion bars up about an inch and a half and realigned the truck. I want to get new shocks as the off road ride was a little rougher than I felt it should be.

Most anyone who has been to Mingus knows about this dam. This is the first time I've ever climbed up to it to check it out. As we were driving back I noticed a small fountain had popped up.

If ya wanna see what you can do with your truck as far as 17" wheels and 33" tires check out the link in my sig...we have almost the exact same truck just three model years apart. Mine also had the 20" chrome sport wheels but the Nitto Terra Grapplers were bald so I had an excuse to get rid of it all!!

I dunno if you have the limited slip rear diff but I'm loving mine out here in this dried up desert. Makes getting out of deep sand and playing in the mud a lot easier.

Mine was bought with a K&N FIPK and with the stock exhaust removed the 5.7l HEMI seems a lot happier. I went cheap and put some pantyhoes over the air filter and it does great so far at keepin it clean longer.

Good luck on the build up...have fun too!

Thanks, Snafu. Been finding out the hard way there isn't much love for 3rd gen 1/2 tons. Here is my truck now:

Upgraded to 285/70/17 Goodyear MT/Rs, Airraid intake and got rid of that huge muffler, which was stock but someone adapted a 4" pipe to it, and replaced it with a straight through Magnaflow. About to start a CB/HAM mount as I am not fond of what's currently available. OK so more pics:

Took the wife up to the Mogollon Rim here in AZ, not to many exciting action shots but the drive was outstanding.
