I would refrain from pledging. Kickstarter has no guarantees on delivery. Kickstarter gets a cut of all "donations" right off the bat. Here is one scam that raised 400k in the past on there. http://www.crowdfundinsider.com/201...lled-kickstarter-fraud-allegations-mentioned/
Kickstarter Basics: Accountability
Who is responsible for completing a project as promised?
It's the project creator's responsibility to complete their project. Kickstarter is not involved in the development of the projects themselves. Kickstarter does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator's ability to complete their project. On Kickstarter, backers (you!) ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it.
All of the projects on there state they are 1 year away. But in reality, most all projects come in 2-3 years overdue. Thats if you are lucky. Some crash and burn, some are just scams. These people show no internal photos. I can produce a box, stick in a computer fan with some batteries and make a campaign stating I am working on a prototype portable AC unit. Then e-beg for $100k to continue with my research. There is no vetting with kickstarter.
Also if you notice on their bio, they don't list what their background is. But they have a one guy for marketing and one guy for public relations. There are no refunds if a kickstarter project does not deliver. Shouldn't kickstarter threads be banned on this site? They are not allowed on another forum I'm on.
