new air conditioning option on kickstarter

I would refrain from pledging. Kickstarter has no guarantees on delivery. Kickstarter gets a cut of all "donations" right off the bat. Here is one scam that raised 400k in the past on there. http://www.crowdfundinsider.com/201...lled-kickstarter-fraud-allegations-mentioned/

Kickstarter Basics: Accountability

Who is responsible for completing a project as promised?
It's the project creator's responsibility to complete their project. Kickstarter is not involved in the development of the projects themselves. Kickstarter does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator's ability to complete their project. On Kickstarter, backers (you!) ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it.

All of the projects on there state they are 1 year away. But in reality, most all projects come in 2-3 years overdue. Thats if you are lucky. Some crash and burn, some are just scams. These people show no internal photos. I can produce a box, stick in a computer fan with some batteries and make a campaign stating I am working on a prototype portable AC unit. Then e-beg for $100k to continue with my research. There is no vetting with kickstarter.

Also if you notice on their bio, they don't list what their background is. But they have a one guy for marketing and one guy for public relations. There are no refunds if a kickstarter project does not deliver. Shouldn't kickstarter threads be banned on this site? They are not allowed on another forum I'm on.

i bet this could work decently for those thinking it wouldnt be that useful, i have a 5,000 btu AC unit in my 10x12x8 out building that has computer equipment running in it 24/7 and it keeps it comfortably cool out there. the building is pretty well insulated but they claim 50sqft, i bet it could keep it comfortable in a tent on a hot summer night especially if its blowing the air straight onto you.

Yeah, this bunch doesn't exude trustworthiness. Kelvin, the rich kid who went camping once and got hot. Terry, the AC tech who was hired when he came to Kelvin's loft to install a Nest thermostat. Duncan, Kelvin's dealer who can sell anything, and besides, Kelvin owes him money. Don, best friend from college, english major. Noah, the out of work architecture grad that Don knows. And Ronnie, the guy in China who they hooked up with after googling "how to get stuff made in China".

I won't send them money just yet. Though maybe there's a use for a 1,000btu AC - Would it cool a teardrop?

Is it just me or is there something suspicious about a temperature related device being sold by a guy named "Kelvin?"
