No worries on a hijack. I think Kurt had it about right, basically if the latch acts up it will invert and you have to push it back down. It will still latch as normal, just be slightly more cumbersome to operate. Retention is exactly the same as always when latched and no additional cordage or straps would be needed to hold it closed.
