Saw them at Overland West... They're probaby on the road back to Jersey at the moment

Saw the product there and it was nifty.. Much more compact without the bag

Rin, I didn't get a chance to see you but I got a chance to chat with your dad

No doubt! Sorry I missed you, did he hook you up with some stickers?

He did, however they were the large .com ones.. I was hoping to have the classic OK ones as they're much smaller... But not to worry.. I'll be headed back through that way the second week of June as I head up to Maine and the surrounding areas so I'll stop by again for sure

Thats unfortunate.
I'll have to come up with another solution as the trailer it's going on will put the shell at around 52 inch's off the ground.

We are excited to introduce three new awnings from James Baroud, in 52" , 70" and 98" lengths.

These awnings are designed to not have the traditional zipper bag found with other awnings and incorporate a treated section of the awning as the "shell" or outer layer. This design significantly reduces the vertical room needed when mounting the awning and opens up mounting possibilities. These awnings are only 3 3/8" tall!

Besides the new design, these tents also feature the same six layer aluminized polyester, acrylic coated fabric as our rooftop tents! Along with the awnings, we will be offering three new awning enclosures featuring the same fabric and styling cues from our roof top tents.

So if you are looking for a innovative awning made with premium materials be sure to check out the new James Baroud Awnings!

I plan on keeping the awning permanently mounted to the rack on my truck. Is there a bag to protect the awning when not in use. I think it would be nice keep mud and stuff off of the awning while driving, and over time UV will undoubtedly reek havoc with the fabric. I also have not been able to find a price for the sidewalls.

The awning does not have a bag, but the last section of fabric that are exposed are coated in a weatherproof coating similar to a wet sack. UV has not caused any concerns to date, but I agree overtime nothing is safe from the sun. I do however always coat my bumpers, roofrack, tires ect with a product called 303 Aerospace Protectant. http://www.amazon.com/303-30306-Protectant-Trigger-Sprayer/dp/B000XBCURW Awesome stuff with an actual SPF rating.

These are great looking awnings! Any plans to make one in a 10ft length? I would love to have one of these on my van but i need at least 9-10ft to cover the sliding side door. Keep up the good work!

The 10' length is something I'm not sure that we have considered, but may be a possible special order from Portugal if you are interested. Thanks for the kind words!

Late to this conversation but I'll post my comments for future reference... I have a '16 4Runner Trail with a Gobi Stealth rack (tubular) and I purchased the James Baroud side awning and universal mounting brackets from TAV (who works closely with OK4WD from what I hear) only to find out no one seems to know how to mount the JB awning on a Gobi. The so called universal brackets (https://www.tavllc.com/shop/product/james-baroud-awning-mount-kit) do not work with Gobi racks because of the tubular design of the rack. The awning and brackets both arrived with no instructions at all (disappointing). Walt at TAV is trying to help but I am still seeking a solution trying to avoid a return. Gzila Designs (https://www.gziladesigns.com/product-page/awning-1100-mounting-clamps) may provide a solution with their mounting brackets for the Gobi. The JB awning looks very nice so I'm surprised so very few people have had this issue.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue mounting your awning. The universal roof rack mounts are designed for flat extrusion style roof racks and not round bar racks. For mounting just about any awning to a GOBI, you will need a set of clamps from FourTreks ( http://www.fourtreks.com/modular_awning_mounts.html ) Let me know if this makes sense and if for some reason TAV cannot assist you, feel free to contact myself.
